Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the levels of conflict types in sports encountered by
Physical Education (PE) majors and their resolution strategies. In addition, significant
relationships between the different conflict types and resolution strategies were sought. A hundred
physical education majors in the College of Education of Bukidnon State University in school year
2018-2019 served as respondents. Descriptive – correlational research design was used. A
validated questionnaire served as main data gathering tool. The gathered data were analyzed using
mean, standard deviation and Pearson product moment correlation. Results revealed that most of
the conflict types were at moderate extent, while the resolution strategies were at high extent.
Further, there were significant relationship between the following: (a) tangible variable and
compromising; (b) tangible variable and forcing; (c) interpersonal variable and forcing; (d)
interpersonal variable and smoothing; (e) boundary variable and forcing; (f) boundary variable and
confronting; and (g) perception variable and forcing. Some conflicts types, with direct or inverse
relationship with resolution strategies in one way or another may help lessen problems arising
when having activities in sports.
