Business School students across the globe undergo a Summer Internship in the industry.
Positioned between the first and second year, the Project is the most effective aid to test,
validate and challenge the class room learning. During this period, the students act as “In-house
Consultants” who own and solve hard problems that matter.

The Summer Project presents a remarkable opportunity for a student to truly personalize his
education as he makes connections and gains experience in his chosen field of interest. The

Prerana Summer Project Contest, which constitutes the genesis of Prerana, was conceived to

provide an opportunity to all the budding managers to take the very first step towards proving
their mettle and fulfilling their ambitions. NITIE was the first B- School to moot such an event
in 1995. Over the years, it has grown to epic proportions, attracting the brightest talent from B-
schools across India to showcase the excellence achieved during their Summer Internship stint
and bench-mark their project against the very best in the five functions of Management.

This popular and prestigious competition is one of the most important events in the calendar of
B-Schools across India and is widely attended by MBA students and industry alike.

The 2009 chapter of SPC proved to be a spectacular show attracting more than 220
entries including entries from top 35 B-Schools across the country vying for the top
honors. The SCM module was sponsored by Johnson and Johnson Medical.

The finals saw the shortlisted candidates battling it out before an erudite jury drawn
from the best in the corporate galaxy. The following prominent personalities from
various key management verticals constituted the panel of judges last year:

RULES & REGULATIONS:
The contest will be held in two phases:

Phase I
 Participants are required to register on the NITIE website www.prerana.nitie.org
to obtain their Unique Registration ID.
 Participants are required to submit a synopsis of their Summer Project by
October 12, 2010 23:59 Hrs to spc10@prerana2010.com with a subject line

SPC_<Module>_RegistrationID.
 The synopsis should be a doc file of maximum 8 pages – Times New Roman,
Font Size -12, Line spacing 1.15 and margin 1 on all sides. The name of the
document should have the format SPC_<Module>_RegistrationID.
 The synopsis should commence with an executive summary of not more than
300 words.
 Besides, the synopsis should consist of the following heads:
 Objective
 Methodology
 Distinguishable stages/Milestones
 Recommendations
 Academic Contribution
 Scope for Future Research
 The synopsis should include a title page having the name of the candidate, name
of the college, mobile number, e-mail id, the name of the company and the
registration ID.
 Besides the title page, the other pages of document should not have any of the
above details other than the name of the company and the registration ID.
 The registration ID should be affixed to the header of every page.
 Anyone not adhering to the deadline or to the above rules shall be disqualified.
 Two rigorous rounds of evaluation by faculty and corporate executives follow.
Subsequently, the top five entries in each of the five functional areas will be
announced by October 20, 2010.
Phase II
The selected entries will be invited to the NITIE campus to make a detailed presentation from
28th – 30th October, 2010 in the presence of an august jury drawn from academia and
industry. The candidates shall have to produce a copy of the certificate from their
companies to prove the authenticity of their project. The top two entries from each
functional area are awarded certificates and cash prizes worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs. The decision of
the organizers of the contest and the panel of judges will be final and binding on all
contestants.

The finalists shall be reimbursed for 2-way sleeper tickets for the shortest distance
between NITIE and their college.
