Unbalanced Forces and Couples

The following data are based on the assumption that engine components may be
machined to a maximum and/or minimum permissible weight limitation and that
assembly may be done in such a manner that maximum unbalanced forces or couples may
be produced. It is to be noted that an unbalanced assembly which produces a maximum
unbalanced force tends to produce a minimum unbalanced couple or vice-versa. It is also
to be noted that these are maximum calculated values; standard assembly procedures will
rarely produce such extreme conditions and normal expectations should not exceed 50
percent of the calculated values.

Exhaust Emissions Qualifying Conditions
1. Emissions performance shown is based upon use of Pipeline Quality Natural Gas (PLQNG)
which is defined as follows: methane content greater than 90% with a low heating value of
900 BTU/SCF ± 15%; NMHC/THC ratio of fuel gas less than 12% by mass; NMEHC/THC
ratio of the fuel gas less than 5% by mass. PLQNG is defined by Ajax-Superior Engineering
Standard ES1005 (page 3-26).

The use of fuel gas not conforming to this definition may result in different emissions
performance. Consult with Ajax-Superior Engineering for emissions performance using
fuel gas different than the PLQNG specified. Written approval from Ajax-Superior
Engineering must be obtained to quote, guarantee, or recommend for permitting any
emissions levels for applications using fuel gas different than the specified PLQNG or any
other limiting conditions different than those specified in this document.

2. Emissions performance specified is based upon 140° F air manifold temperature, 130° F or
lower intercooler water temperature, and 100° F or lower ambient temperature. Reduced air
manifold temperatures will result in lower NOX levels. Higher ambient temperatures may
not affect emission levels at rated load and speed but will cause slightly higher NO X levels
at reduced speed.

3. Emissions performance shown is based upon engines adjusted for standard BSFC. NOX
emissions performance better than that shown is achievable with compromises in BSFC.
Consultation with and written approval by Ajax-Superior Engineering must be obtained
for each specific case for lower NOX and higher BSFC performance.

4. Emissions performance shown is based upon operation of an engine properly installed,

maintained, and adjusted, as defined in Instruction Manuals, Service Bulletins, Engineering
Standards, and other recommendations published by Ajax-Superior. Emissions data shown
represent average values expected over an operating time period of several hours and do
not represent not-to-exceed values for short-term or transient conditions such as start-up,
warm-up, acceleration, rapid load shifts or random anomalous occurrences.

5. Guarantees require fuel analysis, definition of VOC, Ajax-Superior Engineering approval,

and incorporation of the limitations and restrictions of this document into the customer
contract/purchase order.

Definitions
Continuous Duty: The power rating which can be applied without interruption or
load cycling for continuous full load operation and which permits 10% overload for one
hour maximum in any 12-hour period.

Prime Duty: Applied on applications with normal load cycling without an allowable
overload where the average load will be less than 80 percent of the Prime rating.

Intermittent Duty: Rating used for standby service only, where normal requirement
is 100 to 500 hours per year.

Notes:
(1) All above ratings are based on pipeline quality natural gas fuel as defined by Ajax-
Superior Engineering Standard ES-1005.

(2) All above ratings are based on nominal generator efficiency of 95%.

(3) All above ratings are in accordance with ISO 3046/1.

Notes:
1. Heat rejection data is based on nominal 180° F jacket water outlet temperature. Consult the factory for heat
rejection rates and design limits for applications above 180° F jacket water outlet temperature.
2. Heat rejection data is averaged and will vary with operating conditions and ambient temperature. Add 10%
reserve factor for sizing cooling systems. Subtract 10% reserve factor to compute recoverable heat.
3. Intercooler heat rejection based on nominal 4000 ft. altitude.
4. Lube oil cooler and intercooler are in a common circuit requiring 130° F maximum to intercooler for rated
engine performance.
5. All accessory equipment should be sized to allow for a 10% reserve factor.
