Students getting spicy in the Marketplace
Staff Writer
Preparing the perfect chicken wing
sauce was the goal of several students
at the “Chicken Wing Champions” wing
bowl competition in the Market Place on
Monday, Sept. 27.
Five teams made up of four Cabrini
College students each battled for the No.
1 spot.
The team had 15 minutes to mix any
ingredients including mustard, barbeque
sauce, brown sugar and honey.
The event, hosted by CAP Board, con-
sisted of Team Throwback Wings, Team
X Blade, Team Destroyer, Hello Lynn and
Cuties Only.
This was the first event hosted by CAP
Board members Sam Zeff and Shaina Mc-
Cullough.
“All the teams had really creative sauc-
es that made the event that much better,”
Sam Zeff, junior business major, said.
“Because of the uniqueness of the
event, we had a strong turn out,” Bruce
Wright Jr., junior accounting major and
CAP board director of onstage events,
said.

Team Throwback Wings took the cov-
eted first place spot with their spicy sauce.
Even though second place was won by
Team X Blade, the race was pretty close
between the other contenders.
“Team Destroyer had the best wings by
far,” Ali Thompson, junior business major,
said. “The sweet barbeque with a hint of
parsley was absolutely fabulous.”
Team Cuties Only took a different ap-
proach to the normal idea of a wing sauce.
The team preferred to use a large amount
of mustard as their base. This choice pro-
duced an unappealing highlighter-yellow
sauce.
“I was scared and intrigued at the same
time,” Lauren Chieffo, senior marketing
major, said.
“Oh just close your eyes and enjoy,”

According to CAP Board members,
The Wing Bowl will be making a another
appearance again in the near future.
“It’s about going outside the box and
doing something extraordinary,” Chieffo
said.

Catholic Relief Services is a part-
nership that not many schools can
call their own. If you are interested
in social justice, CRS takes global
issues and allows college students to
help raise awareness about them. In
CRS, members get involved actively
in each issue. Through having people
sign petitions, sending out letters to
senators and many other activities.
CRS is one of the biggest groups
on our campus and is extremely in-
volved. CRS hosts an activity each
week so there will always be some-
thing to keep busy with. If interested

In this new age of modern technol-
ogy, many changes have been made.
Shopping for clothes and ordering food
are now done online, phone calls have
been replaced with text messages and
job interviews are done via video chat.
Why should watching a movie be any
different?
With resources like Netflix, On De-
mand and Redbox, people rarely go to
Blockbuster’s or video stores to rent
videos anymore.
“I don’t have to worry about what
day I have to turn it in and how I’m go-
ing to get there. Netflix is just easier, es-
pecially in college because all I have to
do is put it in the mailbox,” Janel Lead-
er, sophomore criminology major, said.

had to change their method of selling,”

knew about it. So I order movies from
Netflix because it is easy,” Missy Miller,
freshman, special education major, said.
This tab allows consumers to rent
and watch movies immediately on TV,
cell phone or TiVo Box. On Demand is
accessible for consumers because they
can order a movie with the click of a
button. It is $5 to rent a movie for 24
hours, while Blockbuster On Demand is
$3 or more to download a rental.
According to Netflix, they offer
about 65,000 varieties of movies and TV
shows, while Blockbuster offers 60,000.
Netflix offers eight plans, which in-
cludes renting eight movies at a time for
$47.99. Blockbuster offers four plans,
which includes movies for $23.99.
Although Blockbuster has made
these changes to modernize the renting
of movies, people still choose Netflix
over Blockbuster. A lot of people are not
informed about the online movie renting
Blockbuster offers.
Blockbuster is doing a lot to change
their image but it is proving to be a prob-
lem to get customers back from Netflix.

Smart phone
There are no words to describe how convenient
it is to have a smart phone. If you don’t have one,
it is highly recommended you get one because it
is an extremely worthwhile investment. You can
quickly respond to emails, find out if any classes
are cancelled and update your facebook status
from anywhere on campus.
Agenda book
In college, it is not unusual for assignments to
pile up. Make sure you remember every assign-
ment and the date it is due by writing it down in
an agenda book or planner. Conveniently, plan-
ners are available in the bookstore for as little as
$5.49.
Flash drive
A flash drive is a great source of backup. It can
come in handy when working on a computer that is
not your own and also for saving work for classes
such as Information, Science and Technology 125,
where everything is done on a computer. It is also a
good way to make sure you don’t lose your work if
your computer crashes.
Most flash drives are small and can clip right on to
your key ring so you always have it with you.

With the perfect combination of comfort and
style, it is no wonder that jeggings are becoming a
huge trend. The best part? Most designer jeggings
cost less than a pair of designer jeans.
The Loquitur staff recommends Jolt Jean's jeg-

Wrinkle remover spray
What could be more annoying than having a wrin-
kled shirt and no time or patience to iron it? Wrinkle
remover spray is the perfect solution. Simply spray
on to any wrinkled article of clothing, tug on the
wrinkled area and (if you have time) allow the area
to dry for a few minutes. It doesn’t get any easier
than that.
Some recommended products include Grandma’s
Secret Wrinkle Remover, which can be found at
Bed, Bath and Beyond and Downy Wrinkle Release,
which can be found at Walmart or Target.
Slippers
Dorms can be dirty, especially if you are walking
from room to room to see your friends. Instead of
wearing shoes or dirtying a pair of socks, slippers
are a comfortable alternative.
Don’t spend too much money on a pair of slip-
pers because they will get very dirty. You can find
affordable, comfortable slippers for under $10 at
Target and Walmart.

On a rainy day at Cabrini there are countless pud-
dles and piles of mud. Don’t let the two rivers that
form in front of Founders Hall ruin a good pair of
shoes. (Note: An umbrella is a good idea too).
Where can you find rainboots?
Target always has fun prints that are very afford-
able.
For those looking for a designer brand, Burberry
and Hunter Wellington are two that have a higher
price tag, but do an exceptional job at keeping your
feet dry.
Gummy vitamins
Surprisingly, most of us don’t get all the essen-
tial vitamins we need from the food in the cafeteria.
Make your mom proud and make it a habit to take
your vitamins everyday.
