The Golden Triangle is a central business districts area in the centre of Jakarta, Indonesia. The concept
of the Golden Triangle itself dates back to 1990, covering several areas in Central and South Jakarta,
forming a triangle shape. Its development becoming a central business area is an indicator and part of
Jakarta’s globalisation process. In 2016, Jones Lang Lasalle named The Golden Triangle as one of the
eight fastest-evolving CBDs across Asia-Pacific region. From where it stands, the Golden Triangle is
considered to be a centre that controls process and portrays the integral relation of Jakarta in either
Indonesia or global context in economic and business sector. The concrete development of The Golden
Triangle is demonstrated by the expansion of commercial functions, where the expansion usually
carried out through land expansion and gradually converting residential or non-commercial areas. This
invasive conversion process is regarded to inflict an adaptation effort from people who live in the
Golden Triangle area. Some of them consciously want to get the added value of their land hence they
sell the land and move somewhere else, but there are also not a few who see it as a potential and
develop businesses on their land. This in an actualization so they can rise the added value and make
them stay in the Golden Triangle Area.

This study is conducted in order to discover the internal aspects that influence both forms of
adaptation. Identification of the impacts of adaptation will also carried out regarding the continuity of
The Golden Triangle development process. The identification will approach both social and economic
impact as a result of environmental condition changes and increasing land prices. Mapping method
and interviews to local residence, both those who moved and survived, will carried out to identify the
variants of the condition. The grouping and periodization of 20 years for conditions that occur in the
Golden Triangle are used as a way to find out whether the motives changed in internal aspects.
