“Causes of Homelessness”. Homeless Hub.

https://www.homelesshub.ca/about-homelessness/homelessness-101/causes-homelessness
In this website The Canadian Observatory explain that most homeless people are homeless not
only for drugs but for other reasons. After researching websites The Canadian Observatory
explains and answers my question of why do people become homeless. They also show and
explain that not every homeless person is out on the streets because of drugs or addiction but,
because of family problems or money issues. The homeless hub shows various ways of how
things we normally go threw can cause being homeless, not because of drugs.
Henry, Meghan, Rian Watt, Lily Rosenthal, and Azim Shivji. “The 2016 Annual Homeless
Assessment Report (AHAR) to Congress”. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development. November 2016.
https://www.hudexchange.info/resources/documents/2016-AHAR-Part-1.pdf
In this article Meghan Henry, Rian watt, Lily Rosenthal, And Azim Shivji explain the ages
where people begin to go homeless. They explain that the ages between 18 thru 24 tend to
become homeless. This helps show that people aren't born homeless but that sometimes families
go through hard times leading to lack of attention for a kid which leads to homelessness. This
also helps explain the number of people who are in homeless shelters and the others who are on
the streets.
“How Can You Help End Homelessness”. National Coalition For The Homeless.
https://www.nationalhomeless.org/publications/facts/you.pdf
In this link The National Coalition For The Homeless is explaining the best ways to help prevent
homelessness from spreading. It gives us many ways on how to help support people who
unfortunately live on the streets. It also helps explain how there not one but many ways we can
help feed the homeless and also put a roof over their heads for a night. A good way they
explained in there article is to donate things we do not necessarily use as much.

“Mental Illness and Homelessness”. National Coalition for the Homeless

https://www.nationalhomeless.org/factsheets/Mental_Illness.pdf
In this article published by The National Coalition For The Homeless it helps explain that 25
percent of the homeless population has a mental illness.this means that the other 45 percent of
homeless are out on the streets because of other issues they have had over the years.this helps me
answer one of my personal questions about why do people look down on homeless people
without even understanding there situation.
“Veteran Homelessness”. National Alliance to End Homelessness
https://endhomelessness.org/resource/veteran-homelessness/
In this article published by The National Alliance To End Homelessness explains how majority
of homeless people living in the United States are army veterans, who come back mentally
unstable or physically incapable of continuing their life as an american. This helps me support
my question by showing people that not every single person is out on the streets because of bad
choices but because of mental disability of war. This should make people feel and have more
kindness and respect to people who live on the street because maybe one of them is a army
veteran who fought for our country and helped us move forward and I feel like they should have
a full coverage.
