Future Goals
 I will develop my leadership in Researching to Improve Practice
o Goal: Research articles to develop more effective teaching methods for English
language arts and mathematics at the transitional kindergarten level.
o Short Term Objective: Research one strategy each for teaching ELA and math and
utilize them in my lessons.
o Rationale: Being up-to-date on education research will support me in
implementing more effective teaching strategies.
o Long Term Objective: Create an itemized list of articles and strategies for
personal reference and to share with other staff.
o Rationale: Having an organized list will allow to quickly reference ideas without
having to search for them online again.
o NBPTS: Proposition 4: Teachers think systematically about their practices and
learn from their experiences,
o TLMD: Domain 2: Accesses and Uses Research to Improve Practice and Student
Learning
o Teacher Inquiry: I will improve my teaching effectiveness by identifying and
implement one teaching strategy for English language arts and one for math.

 I will develop my leadership in Advocating for the Profession

o Goal: Develop a relationship with community organizations to facilitate more
interaction with high school and college students who are interested in teaching.
o Short Term Objective: Encourage a visit from a group of high school students.
o Rationale: Having visits from high school students introduces them to the world
of teaching so they can make an informed decision before choosing a college and
major.
o Long Term Objective: Become a mentor teacher for a student teacher from a local
credentialing program.
o Rationale: It is important to support potential teachers as they make a
commitment to becoming educators and making sure that they have the
opportunity to participate in a welcome classroom.

o TLMD: Domain 7: Advocates for Student Learning and the Profession

o Goal: Improve teacher effectiveness through self-evaluation and the selection of
workshops or other trainings to address specific needs.
o Short and Long Term Objective: Identify at least one workshop a year that
addresses an identified need (e.g., classroom management, supporting English
language learners).
o Rationale: Regularly learning new methods and techniques helps to promote
personal and professional growth and allows me to be more effective as a teacher,
as well as preventing complacency and stagnation.
o NBPTS: Proposition 2: Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach
those subjects to students
