The need

The government schools in India, over the past years, have all but developed a good
reputation. The common complaints range from inadequate facilities including
access to computers and digital technology to the quality of teachers present, among
others.

In an attempt to disrupt this trend, the GANDHI VIDHALAY SIKHSAN SANTHA, —

the government run schools primarily for children from rural parts of India — are on a
mission to provide access to quality education through holistic approach across its 6
schools.

Impact

These digital classrooms have helped increase student attention; teachers maintain
that there has been a reduction in absenteeism and school dropouts. It has also
improved student familiarity and comfort with technology. The digitally interactive
environment encourages even shy or hesitant students to participate better in
classroom discussions.

Dreaming of becoming an IAS officer when she grows up, Simran

says, "At my earlier school, the teachers used textbooks and
blackboard to explain subjects while here the education is via videos,
pictures, and presentations. Learning is now more exciting and
interesting. My favourite is an audio-visual description of any topic. It
gives more clarity on the subject; the pictures and videos shown to us
help us in remembering it even after the class.”

“For any school, the students’ success is of utmost

importance. More students are participating in
extracurricular activities, highlighting the rise in their
confidence. This clearly indicates the programme’s
acceptance and importance.”

is to instill our rich Maharashtrian culture, values and heritage in the hearts of the
burgeoning marathi diaspora. With a current strength of about 110 students, and steadily
growing, this institution is proving to be an exemplary Non-profit Organization with
commendable success in the field of Marathi language education. Since August 2011,
AMS has been operating under the Maharashtra Mandal of Atlanta (MMA) umbrella.
Established in the academic year of 2009-2010, AMS has expanded to a total of 16
classrooms distributed across 2 convenient locations.

We are proud to have such eminent and committed people on our Executive Council. Today
what began as a small sapling in the form of a primary school in Natubaug area has grown into a
very huge and beautiful tree working towards the cause of quality school education and quality
teacher education. There are currently 14 institutions of the Adarsha Shikshan Mandali from pre

A VISIONARY EDUCATIONIST AND LEADER PAR EXCELLENCE

ON A PERSONAL FRONT
‘Successful leaders see the opportunities in every difficulty, rather than the difficulty in
every opportunity’.
Dr Tarita Shankar’s meteoric rise from a young family oriented girl to an exemplary leader was
paved with several hurdles, personal and professional challenges. She overcame these through
pure grit and determination, ability to adapt to changes and an unending quest for excellence. An
avid reader, an excellent orator renowned for her free, frank and fearless expression of her
views, she loves to travel, having visited all major countries over the world.
Philanthropy and concern for the less fortunate occupies her leisure time. Above all, she’s a
doting mother, an affectionate family woman, and a fun loving, down to earth personality.

Principal Message
Man is bestowed with innate talents, powers, abilities and capacities. Education is the process
which brings them forth. Swami Vivekananda believed that, “Education is the manifestation of
divine perfection already existing in the man.”On the same line father of nation Mahatma Gandhi
affirmed that,” Education is all round drawing of best in man, his body, mind and spirit.

In INDIRA NATIONAL SCHOOL we believe in thoughts put forward by these great philosophers
of the era. We try to develop democratic spirit, scientific spirit, self-confidence, human values and
spirit of enquiry. We provide an atmosphere where child is allowed to discover his own abilities.

We provide equal opportunities for spiritual, cultural, social and emotional development of the
child. We try to make children discover abilities in them and acquire skills which will be helpful for
them in facing challenges arising in future.

We at Indira National School assure parents that our children will be inculcated with values to
build a better society and progressive nation as we believe that education is a journey not a race.

RDF strives to instill in students the qualities that will empower them to become agents of change in their
communities. Teachers incorporate opportunities for leadership and examples of social action into every school day.
Students are encouraged to think critically about the world around them and to take action when they identify moral
challenges and social problems by organizing marches, writing petitions, or seeking an audience with the sarpanch
(village mayor). Confidence, high self-esteem and a strong sense of self are all characteristics that we develop in our
students in order to empower them to stand up for what they believe in and work for social change in their
communities.
