Il est essentiel de connaître la nature des fluides qui occupent les pores d’une roche
réservoir.
La saturation d’une roche en fluide est le rapport du volume de ce fluide sur le volume de
pores, exprimée en %. Volume de Fluide

contiennent de l’eau, de l’huile ou du gaz.
On définit ainsi une Saturation en eau Sw, une saturation
en huile So et une saturation en gaz Sg.
Il reste toujours de l’eau piégée dans les pores d’une
roche réservoir, appelée eau interstitielle. La saturation

en eau interstitielle (Swi) varie entre 10 et 35 %.
Swi est appelée aussi Saturation en eau initiale.

L ’endommagement des formations poreuses et perméables (réservoirs) est lié à l’invasion de celles‐ci par le fluide
de forage (essentiellement le filtrat de boue)
La présence d’hydrocarbures résiduels dans la zone lavée affecte les mesures de résistivités et de porosité, tels que
les logs densité et neutron.
Ce phénomène influence directement l’estimation des réserves en hydrocarbure des gisements.

premier “carottage électrique” à Pechelbronn, il est impensable aujourd’hui de forer un
puits sans effectuer une série de diagraphies qui, en fonction d’une interprétation en
terme de lithologie, porosité, saturation, etc., permettra de décider du futur d’un puits,

PRINCIPE DE LA MESURE
• Mesure de la différence de potentiel entre une électrode située dans
le puits et une électrode de référence en surface.
• Cette différence de potentiel est due principalement
− au contraste de salinité entre l’eau de formation et le filtrat de boue
dans le réservoir (Potentiel de Jonction EJ)
− au contraste de salinité entre l’eau de formation et la boue de forage
(Potentiel de Membrane EM au travers de l’argile).
• Elle est atténuée par la teneur en argile de la formation et par la
présence d’hydrocarbures

Les mesures de résistivité et de micro‐résistivité des formations permettent de :
• Détecter des zones imperméables et perméables ( Profile d’Invasion )

PRINCIPE DE LA MESURE:
L’énergie de rayons gamma issus d’une source radioactive située dans l’outil est
atténuée suite à des collisions avec les électrons de la formation.
Deux détecteurs situés dans un patin fortement appliqué contre la paroi du puits
permettent de mesurer les rayons gamma ayant inter‐agis avec la formation.
A partir de la quantité de rayons gamma reçus, une densité électronique ρel de la
formation est calculée et convertie ensuite en une densité de la formation ρb ou RHOB.

L’effet du mudcake est compensé par les mesures des comptes sur les 2 détecteurs.

PRINCIPE DE LA MESURE
On bombarde la formation avec des neutrons à très haute énergie émis, soit par une source
radioactive chimique située dans l’outil , soit à partir d’un générateur de neutrons.
Les neutrons qui sont ralentis principalement par les collisions avec les atomes d’hydrogène de
même masse présents dans la formation perdent de l’énergie et atteignent un niveau d ’énergie
épithermique puis thermique.
A partir du rapport des comptes de neutrons thermiques (ou épithermiques ) ayant atteint les 2
détecteurs situés sur l’outil, au‐dessus de la source, on obtient la quantité d ’hydrogène présent
dans la formation, cad l’Indice d’Hydrogène de la formation.
Le log NPHI ou Neutron Porosity Hydrogen Index représente l’indice d’Hydrogène de la formation.
Dans un calcaire à eau douce , qui est la matrice de référence pour la calibration des outils
neutrons , le log NPHI , s’il est enregistré en matrice calcaire correspond à la porosité de ce
calcaire. ( Puits de référence à l’Université de Houston )
Dans le cas où la lithologie ( Grès ou Dolomie ) ou le type de fluide ( Huile , Gaz ) est différent , une
correction devra être appliquée au log NPHI pour obtenir la porosité de la formation.

Le log TNPH ( Thermal Neutron Porosity Hydrogen (Index) est dérivé des comptes neutrons par un
autre processing mais la référence demeure la même que pour le log NPHI . Sa valeur est plus
proche de la réalité pour les formations dolomitiques.

PRINCIPE DE BASE
• Les outils acoustiques émettent des ondes de compression dans le puits.
Ces dernières se propagent dans la boue et dans la formation, tout en
subissant un certains nombre de conversions.
• La différence des temps d’arrivée à différents récepteurs situés plus loin sur
le corps de la sonde permet de fournir la vitesse de propagation de l’onde
acoustique de compression ( Vp) .
• L’enregistrement complet du train d’ondes permet de détecter également
les ondes de cisaillement et d’en mesurer la vitesse de propagation dans la
formation ( Vs) .
OBJECTIFS
• Mesurer les vitesses de propagation des différentes ondes se propageant
dans la formation par l’intermédiaire de la lenteur Dt qui en est son inverse,

et en déduire les informations sur la roche, sa porosité, ses caractéristiques
