1. What is the purpose of fuel treatment? How is the treatment stage of Heavy Fuel Oil before entering
to diesel engine? What materials should be removed before entering the engine?
2. Draw a schematic diagram of a two-stroke, cylinder lubricating oil system design with a gravity
system and explain briefly. What grade of lubricant is used, how many Total Base Number (TBN) is
used, and what is the purpose of using TBN like that?
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of seawater cooling systems? And what are the
advantages and disadvantages of a central cooling system? What is the difference between a
integrated central cooling system with a separated central cooling system?
4. The purpose of Jacket cooling water system is to cool components, what any components?. How
much temperature of cooling water controlled to out of the system? With what device the cooling
water is controlled to out of the main engine?
5. Known: Mep as in the graph below with propeller power on clean and rough hull condition. Service
speed (Vs) = 14.7 knots. At that speed is in accordance with the engine speed of 215 rpm. The table
below is the available engines.
