To Whom It May Concern,

This letter is to recommend Mr. Scott Wildesen for the position he has applied for. Mr. Wildesen is a 2 nd Grade
Magnet Teacher at Emma K Doub Elementary School and I have known him in this capacity this school year.

Mr. Wildesen communicates high expectations for students on a daily basis by incorporating a combination of
whole and small group, student centered; cooperative based, and individually based instructional activities that are
planned effectively toward meeting the needs of all students. For example, he consistently engages students with
materials that support instruction such as hands on manipulitves that promote learning by maintaining an instructional
pace that keeps students focused, engaged, and on task. Specifically, Mr. Wildesen is commended for embedding 21 st
Century skills and resources into his classroom. For example, he routinely utilizes ipads to engage students in the learning
process and utilizes a data driven approach by referencing formal/informal data such as teacher created assessments,
Literably, PreviLearn, eRI data in an effort to differentiate instruction toward meeting the individual needs of all students.

Mr. Wildesen is passionate about increasing his leadership abilities within the school based setting here at Emma
K Doub Elementary as the School Improvement Team Facilitator and co-facilitator of the FAME Cohort. In doing so, Mr.
Wildesen is proving himself to the Administrative team by being trusted with sensitive information, carrying out
expectations, leading professional learning communities around the topics included in the SIT plan. This role is helping
Mr. Wildesen to grow as a leader with more school based responsibility. As a result, he has been receptive to constructive
criticism related to improving his presentation skills and ability to seek a collaborative approach from others verse
pushing his own agenda. In doing so, he is encouraged to continue refining and enhancing his skills as he maintains a
growth mind set toward seeking future leadership positions.

Mr. Wildesen takes his job seriously and is driven to support the vision and mission of the school and WCPS. In
doing so, he has presented strong skills related to active participation during the grade level CFIP process and with
supporting many new school based professional development and instructional initiatives. Mr. Wildesen is a team player
who inserts his knowledge of the Common Core State Standards into quarterly planning sessions with his grade level, and
continues to learn by attending various county led PD opportunities and serving on the Science Squad, a science
leadership group within WCPS.

I’m happy to recommend Mr. Wildesen for the position he is applying for. Should you have any specific questions
please feel free to contact me at any time.

Sincerely,

Ashley Hobbs
