Build a Wall

Fail
Not Necessary
Illegal immigration is low and declining. According to the Pew Foundation in April 27th, 2017, the
number of unauthorized immigrants peaked in 2007 at 12.2 million and has stabilized since then,
actually decreasing slightly in the years leading up to 2017.
Cost not worth.
Ineffective
Most illegal immigration is overstays – explain. Robert Warren -- a senior fellow at the Center for
Migration Studies – said that according to recent data the majority of illegal immigrants are
actually overstays.
In addition, the wall will only be 20 feet tall – it can’t stop illegal immigrants arriving thousands
of feet above the ground. According to Marc Rosenblum at the Migration Policy Institute, a third
of all overstays coming from Mexico and Central America, and about two-thirds coming from the
rest of the world arrived via plane.
Finally, according to the Pew Research Center in April 27, 2017:
Illegal immigrants in Southern countries like California and Texas has been stable. However, in
Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, the number of
illegal immigrants has increased.
