Example of Variable Adj/Adv:

快 - adv. soon ; Allows [N + Adv + V + (Obj.)] format.

他快要去吃饭了 (short form 他快要吃饭了)

快 - adv. quickly ; adj. fast, quick ; Does not Allow above format. Adv. usage 地/得. ; Adj. usage with 的
or 很. - Can use neither in comparative 比 construction (他快 – He is faster. He is relatively fast.)
