“21st Century Language Teachers: Building Effective Instruction for Vocabulary
Learning and Teaching” (A Cognitive, Psychomotor and Affective Approach) to be
conducted on October 04, 2016 (Tuesday) from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Room 105 of Cavite
State University – Imus Campus. This activity aims to discuss on how to build an effective
instruction, teaching methodologies, and teaching activities for language teachers for
vocabulary learning and teaching.

This activity is in partial fulfillment of the requirements in Seminar 2 (EDUC99B) in our

curricular program Bachelor of Secondary Education.

In line with this, we would also like to excuse all the fourth year education students major in
English section from their respective classes.

PROGRAM PROPOSAL
Theme: “21st Century Language Teachers: Building Effective Instruction for Vocabulary
Learning and Teaching” (A Cognitive, Psychomotor and Affective Approach)

Rationale

Vocabulary learning is central to language acquisition, whether the language is first,

second or foreign (Decarrico). Though vocabulary is not a priority in language teaching, the
interest of it in second language learning has become a successive demand in recent years
and specialists on language nowadays give emphasis on the demand for a systematic and
principled approach to vocabulary both by the teacher and the learner. Thence, linguist
made suggestions and recommendations on how to build effective instruction focusing on
vocabulary learning and teaching that is useful in our present generation where in the focal
point of communication is thru lexis, greek word means word. Giving the contemporary
language teachers the effective teaching methodologies and activities will surely improve the
students’ ability on vocabulary learning of better quality.

Objectives

The objective of this seminar is to discuss to the participants the role 21 st century
language teachers in establishing effective instructions, teaching methodologies and teaching
activities for vocabulary learning and teaching.

Date and Place

The said seminar will be conducted on October 04, 2016 (Tuesday) at Room 105 of
Cavite State University- Imus Campus, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Participant

The Fourth Year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English is expected to

attend the event.

Expected Outputs

The seminar is expected to update its attendees about the role of 21 st century language
teacher on the contemporary effective instructions, teaching methodologies and teaching
activities for vocabulary learning and teaching.
