Question 1 [June 2018]

The following detail shows the results of a survey on the types of exercise taken by a group 100
students.
65 students run
48 students swim
60 students cycle
40 students run and swim
30 students swim and cycle
35 students run and cycle
25 students do all the three types of exercise

i) Draw a Venn diagram that describes the above information

ii) Find the number of students who swims but does not run.
(1 mark)
iii) Find the number of students who take at least two of these types of exercise.

iv) Find the number of students who does not take any of these types of exercise.

A survey was carried out on 215 students in a college to determine the number of students who
have reference books in Calculus, Algebra and Engineering. The result is as below:
10 have all the three books
38 have Calculus and Algebra books
30 have only Calculus books
48 have only Engineering books
36 have only Algebra books
18 did not have any books

The number of students who have only Algebra and Engineering books was twice as much as
those students who have only Calculus and Engineering books.
