Procedure

Focus: I will gain the student's attention through showing them my art journal and discussing we will be working on this journal throughout the
year. Then, I will show them different zentangle work I have done and expain what zentangling is. 
Focus/Motivation
(Open) Objective: I will have students repeat the objective after me.

Purpose: I will explain why zentangling is important and what it's purpose is.

1.  I will pass out the zentangle pattern packets and have the students look at all of the different patterns. I will explain to them that they will
keep this in their art journal, but I am only going to show them how to do 4 of the patterns today. 
2.  I will also pass out the white construction paper and tell the students to fold the paper in 4ths

3.  Next, I will introduce the first pattern and show the students how to do it. 
4.  The students will attempt the pattern. 
5.  I will repeat this with all 4 patterns. 

I will explain to the students that they will be using these patterns to make different art pieces throughout the year and in other lessons, they

If time permits, students will practice different patterns in their art journal.
