Testing for ingress of water and foreign bodies

THE CHALLENGE
Electrical and electronic equipment must work safely under difficult environmental conditions
for many years. In addition to the permitted temperature range, the resistance against
aggressive media constitutes a limitation on the use. Furthermore the ingress of moisture
and foreign bodies such as dust must be prevented for reliable function.
Can your product verifiably resist solid objects, dust and water?

THE SOLUTION
By means of the IP protection class testing, we are testing the tightness of your product with
a dust or a water leak test. The test methods used for this purpose are standardized and
allow the classification in IP degrees of protection. The IP-Code describes the protection of
an enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects, dust and water. The different types of
influence are divided into individual IP grades. The resilience and the resistance of products
to the respective environmental conditions (grades) can thus be made comparable for the
user. We are testing primarily according to the requirements of IEC/EN 60529 and DIN 40050.

Our experts are always up to date and support you right there, where you need help. Responsible,
competent and effective.

Our standard-compliant water and dust testing chambers are state of the art. The automatic
recording of test parameters ensures the high quality of the testing.

In our IP-laboratory in Türkheim the following protection class testing is possible:

Tests for resistance against ingress of solid bodies P1X, IP2X, IP3X, IP4X, our dust chamber
allows the following tests: IP 5X = dust-protected and IP 6X = dust-tight (with vacuum in
housing).

The following protection testing is possible in our water chamber:

IP X1 = water drops IP X2 = falling water drops (15°)
IP X3 = spraying water at an angle up to 60° IP X4 = splashing water from every direction
IP X5 = water jet test IP X6 = high pressure water jet test
IP X7 = temporary immersion test IP X8 = continuous immersion test

Additionally we are offering all IP protection class tests of electrical equipment of road vehicles
according to DIN 40050 to IP69K.

(e.g. keeping away tools, etc.)
IP 5X Protection against harmful dust deposits
(complete protection against contact)
IP 6X Protection against ingress of dust
(dust-tight, complete protection against contact)
