Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other text types serve as ways of
expressing and resolving personal conflicts, also how to use strategies in linking textual information, repairing,
enhancing communication, public speaking, emphasis markers in persuasive texts, different forms of modals,
reflexive and intensive pronouns.

A. Review
 What have you learned from our previous lesson? Relate your life experiences to the story of
Orpheus.

B. Establishing the Purpose of the Lesson


 Read in chorus the objectives listed on the board.
 Play the game “Pinoy Henyo” following the mechanics:
1. A group is composed of 2 members: one as the guesser and the other one who is only allowed to
respond to the guesser’s question with a yes, no or maybe.
2. Time limit is 2 minutes; the timer starts once the game master said “timer starts now.”
3. The timer stops after 2 minutes or when the group guesses the answer ahead of time or on time
4. The group with the shortest time wins.
Words to be guessed: Peter Parker, Spider
 Describe Peter Parker and the Spider. How are they related to one another? What do you think is our
lesson for today?
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson
 Use your dictionary or the context clues in finding out the meaning of the following underlined words:
1. Arachne lived in an obscure little village.
2. The graceful nymphs would steal in from stream or forest and peep shyly through the dark
doorway.
3. She was immensely proud of the skill that had brought so many to look on her.
4. Arachne was considered as a reckless girl for claiming to herself that she is equal with the gods.
5. Pressing her pale lips together in obstinacy and pride, she led the goddess to one of the great
looms and set herself before the other.

Think of characters from Filipino movies or novels who are similar with Arachne. Explain the behaviors

Compare yourselves to Arachne. What positive and negative characteristics do you have similar with
