argument paper, which goes beyond the parameters of a traditional research paper by asking students to present an argument of their
own that includes the analysis and synthesis of ideas from an array of sources. LO1—analyze and interpret samples of good writing,
identifying and explaining an author’s use of rhetorical strategies and techniques; LO2—apply effective strategies and techniques in their
own writing; LO3—create and sustain arguments based on readings, research, and/or personal experience; LO4— write for a variety of
purposes

2. Research packet changes: no annotated sources or analysis notes. Instead we will learn how to write a strong synthesis
for the literature review.
3. In groups of six, each student will study a ​source from a past AP exam synthesis essay​. Each student will “become” the
source. Students will have a conversation as a group. Teacher will then introduce the question of the ​prompt​, and as a
group, write a synthesized answer to the prompt.
