Taytay Diversion Rod. The barangay has a
marginal slope ranging from 25% and above characterized by a hilly landscape (class F
slope) the barangay features the highest elevated point of the municipality at 200 to 255
above sea level. But despite having a steep topography, the chosen location portrays a
relatively gentle slope based on the map provided by the local government unit of
Taytay and NAMRIA at 5-10% .

Administration (PAGASA) classified Taytay’s climate as Type I under the Coronas

GEOLOGIC FACTOR

Taytay is situated above 3 major geologic units: Quaternary Alluvium, Laguna

Formation and Angat Aphiolite (Schoell & Casareo as cited in Taytay’s CLUP issued by
the LGU, 1987). What these variations entails is the difference in soil components.
Quaternary Alluvium is made up of sediments such as silt and sand while Laguna
Formation are of fine to coarse in texture that comprises 16% of the hilly areas of
Taytay.

The following are the soil

types present in Taytay,
Rizal:

Marikina Loam soil is

characterized by its loose
texture with coarse to
granular additives. This
crumbly type of soil has a
brown and occassional brick
red streaks that is almost
compact (Rodriguez:
Marikina Series, n.d.)
HYDROGRAPHIC FACTOR
Given the topograhic features of the location having hilly to strongly sloping contours, Taytay is
vulnerable to flashfloods and erosion. Having the most of the steep terrains, Baranggay Dolores,
where the chosen site is located, has the highest disaster risk when rainy season comes. But the
landscape also provided natural drainages such as Taytay River, Hulo River and Napindan
Channel—all of which directs floodwater to the Laguna Lake.
Apart from the aforementioned water bodies, flood control infrastructure was built in the
1980s. the manggahan floodway traversing through Antipolo River, serves as channel
to keep the waters coming from Manila from flooding the neighboring places, one of
which is Rizal.
ROAD NETWORK AND ACCESSIBILITY

Currently, Taytay has a total

road network of 139,666 km,
with 2 major roads; Rizal
Avenue that leads to the
Central Business District,
and Manila East Road
passing through northeast of
Taytay. These major roads
meets at the intersection
centered between the New
Public Market, Jollibee
Taytay, and the Clock
Tower.

Modes of transportation includes vehicles on land and water, of which majority is on

land in which most of the population is using Public Utility Vehicles and Public Utility
Buses. Presently, there are a total of 13, 863 PUVs and 26 bus operators, while 5, 683
vehicles amount for private uses.

Commutes are observed to come from departure zones from Metro Manila such as in
Cubao, Crossing/Edsa, Sta Lucia East, Cainta, and JRC Mandalayuong with thirteen
jeepney lines, and other lines include Pasig-Taytay and Cainta-Binangonan.
INFRASTRUCTURE

I. Proposed Pasig Expressway or

PAREX – Pasig River Expressway
(Connecting R-4 and R-5 Expressway)

Connected at Taytay by Mercedes

Avenue through Pasig City at Vargas
Bride that circulates to Cainta and
junction at Manila East Road and Taytay-
Angono National Road. This distributes
vehicle load at Ortigas Avenue and
shortens travel to Taytay and Cainta
II. Barakadahan
Bridge

Or Pasig-Taytay Bridge,
Is a widened 245 meter
bridge that serves as an
alternate route to C-6
Road from EDSA and C-5
Road, which allows routes
to South Luzon
Expressway of SLEX from Bicutan and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for a
travel time around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
UTILITIES

I. Power

IV. Drainage and Sewerage

Currently, one of the issues of Taytay is drainage and canal systems which made less
prone areas to flooding vulnerable such as in Brgy. San Juan because of insufficient
canal systems.

Of the population, 87% disposes their waste to septic tanks, 4.16% have unsanitary
facilities, and 8.3% have no toilets at all.
V. Manggahan Artificial Waterway
Also known as Manggahan Floodway,
this reduces large amounts of flood
along the boundaries of Pasig River
and Laguna de Bay, which includes
areas at Taytay. Is has a capacity to
handle 2,400 cubic meters per second
of waterflow which is complemented
ny the Napindan Hydraulic Control
System (NHCS) to regulate the tidal
flow of saline water between Manila
Bay and Marikina River.
(Additional) Hazards

Low density to medium
density residential
developments in the ares
of Brgy. Sta. Ana, Brgy.
