Before you start writing this proposal, or start the production of your project, you should
familiarise yourself with Unit 13 - ask your teacher for a copy.
In particular, you should understand the Assessment Criteria, and the Grading Criteria, that will
be used to determine standards and achievement, including your final grade.
Section 1 (rationale), section 2 (project concept) and section 3 (evaluation) of this proposal
should be about 500 words long in total.
Section 4 (project action plan and timetable) and section 5 (research sources) have no
suggested word count, but will depend on the nature of your project.
As a general rule, your project proposal should not be so succinct that it does not address the
requirements listed in the sections, nor should it be excessively long and unfocused.
Your proposal should be sufficiently challenging to ensure you have the best possible chance of
meeting the grading criteria.

a. Outline the knowledge, skills and understanding you have acquired over the past year and a half.
Over the past year and a half I have acquired and enhanced many skills due to the various tasks, which I
have participated in throughout collage lessons. Upon entering this collage I had a vague understanding of
how to edit both video and photographic media however my creative skills were quite limited due to my
lack of knowledge on special effects and techniques, which could have ameliorated the quality of my initial
work, produced. Throughout this course I have learnt how to create animations, Campaign posters and
magazine covers as well as familiarising myself with the multiple Adobe software programs, (Photoshop,
Lightroom, AfterEffects, InDesign and Premiere Pro). I have also explored many photographic editing
techniques such as double exposure and photographic collaging. And I leant new ways to work with
typography and videography mastering a glitch effect and distorted visual appearance. Examples of this can
be seen on my site during my reconstruction edit of ‘Se7en’.-https://ac00988ngg.weebly.com/re-
construction.html
b. What do you know now, and what does it mean to you, compared with what you knew and what you could
do, before you started the course?
Including the skills and techniques mentioned above, since enrolling on this course I have learnt a lot about
myself. Prior to this course I had been attending an A-level college where I studied three different subjects,
where most of the practical work given involved group work with peers. Since I have been on this course I
have discovered that I produce better content when working independently and my passion for Media has
increased significantly. I have also developed strong leadership skills through directing members of cast
during my productions. Before this course I would shy away from responsibilities and would avoid leadership
roles by working in large groups. This course has allowed me to become so confident and independent that I
can now direct and create successful content with minimal guidance. It is also though these discoveries
where I have also obtained an arising fascination with Journalism and know now that I want to pursue a
career which requires these attributes. Overall I believe this course had helped me grow both skilfully and
mentally.
c. How has this influenced your choice of discipline in your project proposal?
Due to the fact I produce better quality content when working individually, I have decided to work
independently during my production. My initially idea for my FMP involved me needing to work with
multiple individuals, in order to create a significant prop (A polaroid) which I intended to use continuously
on set. However after some thought I decided to change this plan by using ‘old polaroid’s of male family
and friends. This technique is effective as it would provide me with more time to spend on perfecting my
footage and the pre taken polaroid’s will naturally have a worn and aged appearance which will add to the
overall theme of my sequence.
d. How might this choice affect your immediate and longer aspirations?
I think my decision to work independently will affect my future aspirations positively by further enhancing
my independence, enabling me to continue working productively throughout my production and further
education. Although I intend to work independently I will need extra help from a camera crew when filming
my sequence and I will also need a male and female actor to play the lead roles.
For my FMP I intend to produce a 1- 2-minute title sequence based on my original psychological thriller
titled ‘Induce’. The narrative of my film follows the story of a psychotic serial killer who uses her seductive
and provocative persona to lure, entrap and then brutally murder innocent men, in order to seek vengeance
for her violent and abusive childhood. Induce follows a thrilling, compelling and twisted narrative in which
My main character (Scarlett) struggles with memories of the past. I will also be producing a publicity
package, which will go, alongside my sequence in effort to publicise my production, this will include the
following: A 1:1 Radio Interview with the leading actress in ‘Induce’, an online overview explaining my
movies narrative and a Film Poster. In order to produce high quality content I will be using multiple sources
to look at examples of some of the most successful title sequences including; Vertigo, Six feet under, Catch
me if you can, and more modern title sequences like ‘The girl with the dragon tattoo’. I will also be
conducting target audience research of similar thriller film through YouGovprofiles.com, to get a better
understanding of how best to appeal to my target audience.
Below is a list equipment I will need to create my Opening title sequence & Publicity Package:
Adobe Audition: (I will use this software to edit my radio station Interview on).
Adobe After Effects
Adobe Premiere Pro
Adobe Lightroom
Adobe Photoshop
High Definition Video Camera
Studio lighting
Black backdrop
DSLR Camera
Access to a MacBook
Reflector
Soft box
Edi Roller (Recorder my voiceovers for my Radio interview)
When creating my production I will need to use a photographic studio with a dark backdrop in
order to create my film posters. I will also need to build a set on an interior location when creating
my Film title sequence.
e.g.
when and how might you want to use the studio?
Might you need to build a set?
Might you need specialist software?
c. In what form will you complete and present your final project?
I will be presenting my FMP through an online exhibition. On this site I will showcase my title sequence,
Radio interview and Film Posters and will also include an Audience feedback page in order to gather
information and opinions of my product from my target audience.
a. How will you record your decision-making and how will you document changes to your ideas as your work
progresses?
I will conduct daily reviews at the end of each lesson in order to access my performance and productivity in each
class. I will be doing this in the style of EBI and WWW which is a method I am familiar with and is also proven to be
effective in helping one attain great improvements in overall work.
b. How will you ensure your evaluation makes reference to your stated aims, is reflective and analytical, and
not just a description of what you did.
As mentioned before I will be conducting audience reaction sheets which will be distributed to both genders in
my target audience. This will access the effectiveness of my overall product and will also tell me what elements
of my production I was successful in achieving. After gathering this research I will then distribute the essential
pieces of information into graphs and charts, which will present my findings in a methodical and organized way.
I will also include screenshots of some of the feedback given.
(Below is a example of my target audience profile and what types of people I intend to target based on the
factors of age, hobbies and demographics.)
c. If you are working as part of a group project, do comment on how this might have positive or negative
impact on your work, and mention any steps you could take to mitigate disruption to your own progress.

The more time and thought you give to planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be.
If you wish to reference separate documents as part of this process, such as:
Feasibility Study, Mood Boards, Mind Maps, Treatment, Story Board, Project Planner, Gantt Chart, Call Sheets, Risk
Assessments, Script, Shot Plans, Location Arrangements and so on…
Then give an overview here and refer to the location of the separate documents.

Make sure you are realistic with your planning, balancing ambition with the time and resources available.
Say what you are going to do, how you will do it, and by when - include a visual planner, Gantt chart or similar.
Remember to include time spent sourcing materials, conducting research, seeking feedback from others, and say when you
will carry out independent study.
Your sources of research should be as wide as possible and could include libraries, galleries, books, magazines, films,
computer games, websites, blogs, social media, radio programmes, archive material and so on…
Where appropriate, you should use the Harvard system of referencing. The bibliography should be continuously updated as
the project progresses
