the Philippine Sea, and a small region at the northernmost tip of the island of
Mindanao. This mainland portion borders Agusan Del Norte and Surigao Del Sur to
the south.
Surigao Del Sur is a province in the Philippines located in the Caraga region in
Mindanao. Its capital is Tandag City. Surigao Del Sur is situated at the eastern
coast of Mindanao and faces the Philippine Sea to the east.
Agusan del Norte (Cebuano: Amihanang Agusan; Butuanon: Probinsya hong Agusan del Norte)
is a province in the Philippines located in the Caraga region of Mindanao. Its capital is the
city of Cabadbaran and it is bordered on the northeast by Surigao del Norte; mid-east
by Surigao del Sur; southeast by Agusan del Sur, and southwest by Misamis Oriental. It
faces Butuan Bay, part of the Bohol Sea, to the northwest.
Agusan del Sur (Cebuano: Habagatang Agusan; Butuanon: Probinsya hong Agusan del
Sur) is a landlocked province of the Philippines located in
the Caraga region in Mindanao. Its capital is Prosperidad and borders, from the north
clockwise, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Compostela
Valley, Davao del Norte and Bukidnon.
The name "Misamis" comes from the word "kuyamis," a local variety of sweet coconut. The province's
original inhabitants were the Bukidnons and the Manobos but they were driven into the interior when
Visayas settlers arrive. Misamis used to be a part of the diocese of Cebu. In 1818, it became a
corregimento comprised of four divisions: Misamis, including Iligan, Dapitan, Cagayan, and Catarman, on the
island of Camiguin. In 1850, it included Bukidnon and the northern part of Cotabato.
Davao City, officially the City of Davao (Cebuano: Dakbayan sa Dabaw), is a highly urbanized city in the island
of Mindanao, Philippines. The city has a total land area of 2,443.61 km2 (943.48 sq mi), making it the largest
city in the Philippines in terms of land area. It is the third-most populous city in the Philippines after
Quezon City and Manila, the most populous city in the country outside Metro Manila, and the most populous
in Mindanao.[4] As of the 2015 census, the city has a population of 1,632,991.
It is geographically situated in the province of Davao Del Sur and grouped under the province by
the Philippine Statistics Authority, but the city is governed and administered independently from it. The
city is divided into three congressional districts, which are subdivided into 11 administrative districts with a
total of 182 barangays.
Tubod, officially the Municipality of Tubod, (Cebuano: Lungsod sa Tubod; Maranao: Inged a
Tubod; Tagalog: Bayan ng Tubod), is a 2nd class municipality and capital of the province of Lanao del
Norte, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 47,165 people.
It is strategically located along the Southeastern shores of Panguil Bay and is about 60 kilometers South
West of Iligan City, 10 kilometers South of Ozamiz City and about 2 kilometers West of Tangub City.
Lanao del Sur (Maranao and Iranun: Pagabagatan Ranao), officially the Province of Lanao del Sur, is
a province in the Philippines located in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (BARMM). The capital is the city of Marawi, and it borders Lanao del Norte to the
north, Bukidnon to the east, and Maguindanao and Cotabato to the south. To the southwest lies Illana
Bay, an arm of the Moro Gulf.
The Province of (North) Cotabato lies on the eastern part of Region XII and is strategically located in
the central part of Mindanao. It is bounded on the North by the Province of Bukidnon, on the
northwest by Lanao del Sur, on the East by Davao City, on the Southeast by Davao del Sur, on the
West by Maguindanao Province and on the southwest by Sultan Kudarat Province. Mountains to the
east peak at Mount Apo, a volcanic cone that is the highest mountain in the Philippines. In the west,
the Piapungan Range separates it from Lanao del Sur. The fertile Pulangi River basin runs in the middle
of these two highlands and spreads towards the southwest to the flood plains of
Maguindanao.Typhoons do not pass through (North) Cotabato and rainfall is evenly distributed
throughout the year.
Sultan Kudarat (Hiligaynon: Kapuoran sang Sultan Kudarat; Maguindanaon: Prubinsiya nu Sultan
Kudarat; Kinaray-a: Kapuoran kang Sultan Kudarat) is a province in the Philippines located in
the Soccsksargen region in Mindanao. Its capital is Isulan and the commercial center is Tacurong City.
Zamboanga del Norte (Cebuano: Amihanang Zamboanga; Subanon: Utara Sembwangan) is a province in
the Philippinessituated within the Zamboanga Peninsula region in Mindanao. Its capital is Dipolog City and
the province borders Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay to the south, Misamis Occidental to
the east, and the Sulu Sea to the west.
Zamboanga Del Norte is the largest province of the Zamboanga Peninsula region by land area covering
7,301.00 square kilometres (2,818.93 sq mi). Zamboanga Del Norte is the 26th populous province in the
Philippines.
Misamis Occidental (Cebuano: Kasadpang Misamis; Subanen: Sindepan Mis'samis) is a province located in
the region of Northern Mindanao in the Philippines. Its capital is the city of Oroquieta. The province
borders Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur to the west and is separated from Lanao del
Norte by Panguil Bay to the south and Iligan Bay to the east. The province of Misamis was originally inhabited
by Subanens who were an easy target by the sea pirates from Lanao.
Zamboanga del Sur (Cebuano: Habagatang Zamboanga; Subanen: S'helatan
Sembwangan/Sembwangan dapit Shelatan) is a province in the Philippines located in
the Zamboanga Peninsula region in Mindanao. Its capital is the city of Pagadian. Incorrectly
grouped with Zamboanga Del Sur is the highly urbanized city of Zamboanga, which is a
chartered city and governed independently from the province.
Sulu (Tausūg: Wilāya sin Lupa' Sūg) is a province of the Philippines in the Sulu Archipelago and part of
the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Its capital is Jolo on the island of the same name. Maimbung, the royal capital of the Sultanate of Sulu, is
also located in the province. Sulu is along the southern border of the Sulu Sea and the northern boundary
of the Celebes Sea.
Palawan (pron. /pəˈlɑːwɑːn/), officially the Province of Palawan (Cuyonon: Probinsya i'ang Palawan /
Paragua; Tagalog: Lalawigan ng Palawan) is an archipelagic province of the Philippines that is located in
the region of MIMAROPA. It is the largest province in the country in terms of total area of jurisdiction.
Its capital is the city of Puerto Princesa, but the city is governed independently from the province as a
highly urbanized city.
Tawi-Tawi (Tausug: Wilaya' sin Tawi-Tawi) is an island province in the Philippines located in
the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The capital of Tawi-Tawi is Bongao,
per Batas Pambansa Blg. 24 enacted on April 4, 1979.
It is the southernmost province of the country, sharing sea borders with the Malaysian state
of Sabah and the Indonesian North Kalimantan province, both on the island of Borneo to the west. To
the northeast lies the province of Sulu. Tawi-Tawi also covers some islands in the Sulu Sea to the
northwest, the Cagayan de Tawi-Tawi Island and the Turtle Islands, just 20 kilometres (12 mi) away
from Sabah.
The Province of Basilan (Chavacano: Provincia de Basilan; Tausug: Wilaya' sin Basilan; Yakan: Wilayah
Basilanin) is an island province of the Philippines in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. Basilan Island is
the largest and northernmost of the major islands of the Sulu Archipelago. It is just off the southern
coast of the geographic Zamboanga Peninsula.[4][1]
Isabela City, the former capital, is a component city under the provincial government of Basilan but is
administered as part of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region and is listed statistically independent. Its capital
has been transferred to Lamitan City.
