The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) is prominent for providing the
quality education for its students. One of the steadiest departments of PUP in serving
excellence not only in academics but also in non-academics is the College of Accountancy
and Finance (CAF). Every department aims for its students to pass. To reach the fullest
potential and abilities of accounting students, CAF provides institutional programs and
services like access to scholarship and financial assistance, mechanisms to promote
national, sectorial and cultural sports activities, development in coordination with
concerned agencies, programs for life skills training (e.g. conflict and stress management,
harassment, etc.) counselling, testing and referrals for students with special needs,
opportunities for promotion and appreciation of culture and arts, etc. As an example, CAF
helps JPIA provides review materials and conducting mock exams for students whenever
major exams are approaching. CAF implements Dos Policy, Special Qualifying Exam (SQE),
and Departmental Examination simply because these practices can also develop the
potential and abilities of the students. CAF aims not just for competence but also for the
character that every accounting student should possessed while under the department
supervision and it is a good sign that the distribution of passing students increases rapidly
as time goes by. This means that students engaged effectively on academics and at the same
time non-academic programs and services that the CAF constructs. CAF are aware of the
strict system implemented, that’s why they provide help as much as they can to ensure the
future of the students. The challenges are tough, but it can bring out student’s hidden
potential for the succeeding years. This college are not just concerning about your life
inside the university but also in the corporate world. It prepares you to more challenges
like CPA board exam and your future job in the company.
