Research Study: “Beny Fruto Castillon: Background and Study of his Works.”

Objective/s: to gather data and information about the life and works of one of the most prolific
composers in Western Visayas, Mr. Beny Fruto Castillon, whose work “Kruhay” became one of
the finest choral compositions in the Philippines and even acknowledged outside the country.
The purpose of this study is to make an outline of his life and works to honor his efforts and
contributions in the field of music. More specifically, to bring forth his legacy as one of the most
outstanding alumni of the University of San Agustin – Conservatory of Music.
