Course Description: The curriculum offers students the opportunity to experience real-world
applications, hands-on labs and interdisciplinary investigations. All students will be actively
engaged in developing mathematical understandings in real and relevant contexts. Students will
also utilize the Rigor and Readiness Program adopted by the DeKalb County Board of Education.
The Rigor and Readiness Program is a comprehensive, coherent, Common Core standards-based
school reform model. Rigor and Readiness brings together all of the elements of a sound
education – elements that educators and researchers agree are critical to a well-organized, high
performance school.

Standards for Mathematical Practice

1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. 5. Use appropriate tools
strategically.
2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively. 6. Attend to precision.
3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. 7. Look for and make use of
structure.
4. Model with mathematics. 8. Look for and express regularity in
repeated reasoning.

Curriculum Overview IS ONLY A GUIDE AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

opportunity to succeed. Teachers shall evaluate student progress, report grades that represent the
student’s academic achievement, and communicate official academic progress to students and
parents in a timely manner through the electronic grading portal. See Board Policy IHA.
GRADING CATEGORIES *GRADE PROTOCOL
