Dieter Koch ( UAC 2008)

Koch studied Philosophy, Sanskrit and Ancient Greek at the University of

Zurich from 1978 to 1984. Later he dealt with astronomy,
astrology, history of ancient astrology and Assyriology. In
2008, following his philosophy and Sanskrit studies, he
published a commented translation of the Bhagavadgita.

He is married to the foreign language secretary and

astrodienst astrologer Silvia Benz ; they have a daughter
Sophia [2] .

Since 1995 he works as a programmer at Astrodienst . Mittagshorosop [1] by Koch

Together with Alois Treindl he created the Swiss Ephemeris ,
a program library for astronomical calculations, which is now
part of virtually all popular computer astrology programs because of their high precision.

Among astrologers Koch became known through articles that appeared in German and Italian magazines, and in which
he mainly dealt with theoretical problems of astrology (eg, the precession , the zodiac , the housing problem and the
Lilith -Ephemeride). As a co-author, he also contributed to books of astrological content, including the only significant
books on Pholus and Priapus . In 2002 his "Critique of Astrological Reason" was published. In it he deals with the
dispute between astrology and its critics .

Koch's main interest is ancient astral mythology, archeoastronomy and Assyriology. His most important works in these
fields are the books on the Star of Bethlehem and on the astral-mythological background of the Gilgamesh epic.
