Assignment 4

February 4, 2019

Part 1

1. 3 resources that can be found on the webpage are standards, student and CCSD. Under the
standards resources there are links in order to help students know the basics of standards. An
example would be the Nevada computer and technology. Under the student resources there are
links to help students with assignments. An example is there is a link to help with our weebly
website. The resource CCSD has all of the curriculums a teacher needs to follow in their
classroom.
2. Three guidelines students need to follow are choosing a geographic region based off of 4 regions
total. Second step is to find a 3-digit location code based off of the region the student picks. The
location code is the school name. the final step is to completely fil out the form with our data
and submitting it.
3. Three resources that can help with our topics are that we can find books, articles, and films
having to do with our topics. For example, if someone is doing a research topic on children with
autism we can type that in and different links will come up based off of that topic.
4. The definition is the document is the framework to guide districts in creating their curriculum
based on the states standards. One standard is that not all standards be taught in isolation.
Instead for multiple standards to be taught in a single lesson.
5. Edu 201/202 Intro to Elementary and Secondary Education. One artifact that is required for Edu
201/202 is the field observations.

1. Three resources on the CCSD website are Jobs, zoning, and infinite campus. Infinite campus is
used so teachers can finish work related tasks. Zoning is used to determine what school a
student is zoned for based on their address. Under the job resource we can view open
administrative positions.
2. The base salary for a teacher the first year is $40,900 including benefits the total value is
$60,077.
3. Three resources are New Teachers, employee onboarding and development, important
information for teachers.
New Teachers- Has a specialized support called The employee onboarding and development
department also known as the hive.
Employee onboarding- the goal of this is to increase student growth and achievement.
Important information for teachers- has links on what to do to for procedures on requesting a
substitute or worker’s compensation booklet.
4. Student opportunities- students can find scholarships, grant programs or youth employment
services off of this resource.
Report a bully- has information on the CCSD policy 5137.
Student information- this resource has links to transcript request or exam information.
5. A useful resource for students and parents is the calendar. The calendar has the dates when
there will be no school.

Lesson Plan Title: Geometry

Concept / Topic to Teach: Quadrilaterals, parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting

lines

General Goal(s): Have the students be able to organize and identify the different
definitions involving geometry.

Specific Objectives: Be able to finish a worksheet on their own and fully understand
the subject of geometry.

Required Materials: Scissors, tape, markers, journals, pencil/pen

Anticipatory Set (Lead in): The famous question teachers like to ask is “Remember
learning this last year?” I want my students to be able to fully understand a subject that
will introduce a new subject and the next year they will be taught in more depth about
the subject. I don’t want to become “that teacher” that didn’t teach a subject well and
didn’t take the time to make sure all of the students understood the subject.

Step Procedures:
1. Students will copy down definitions from the white board onto their Math
Journals.
2. Once students finish copying down the directions I will ask them basic questions
based off of what they finished copying down to reevaluate they understand what
they are copying down.
3. I will then tie in more definitions having to do with part 1.
4. We will spend around 20 minutes for the students to copy everything down.
5. I will then pass out the worksheet that involves both topics to test their knowledge
on the subject.
6. I will give them direction to finish part 1 of the worksheet and once they finish that
up I will have them start the second part.
7. The first part involves them cutting shapes and putting them in the correct
category.
8. Second step they will need to color code the shapes into the different line
categories they wrote down.

Plan for Independent Practice: The students need to be able to write down all of the
definitions from the document I will put up on the white board.
1. After the students finish I will allow them to work in their groups to help each
other with any questions they might have. Sometimes I find it kids understand
something better when they hear it from a class mate.

Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set): Throughout the time the students are copying
down the definitions I will be walking around making sure they are actually writing them
down and not just drawing or pretending to be working. I want to be available for all of
the students.
Assessment Based On Objectives: The students will have one worksheet to finish if
not that worksheet will turn into homework.

Possible Connections to Other Subjects: Once students learn the basics of getting
introduced to geometry in the future these definitions will come to more use when they
start learning more complicated math. For example, algebra.
