Check well if you have filled in all the data and have accepted our personal data policy
collected in "Legal Notices" and in "Registration, Participation, Voting".

Any person, natural or legal, of any nationality, with the age of majority. To do so, you must be

Film Maker Award, your short film may not exceed 15 minutes.

The production date must be after January 1, 2017.

• I have an account on Youtube and Vimeo. How can I embed my videos in the FICIE
website?

The procedure will be as follows:

a) Embedding from Vimeo

The official FICIE application is capable of embedding from Vimeo files, as shown in the
attached image. You will only have to write in the field "ID of the video" the numbers behind
the url of the video that will start with "http://.vimeo.com......................".

In the example https://vimeo.com/209266360 the ID of the video to be annotated would be

209266360.

b) Embed from Youtube

The procedure would be very similar to the previous one.

The ID of a Youtube video is the combination of numbers and letters that come after "v=" in
the Youtube link in the browser bar.

http.://www.youtube.com/watch?v=(here would be the ID)

For example: from this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXvucVWwm28

rXvucVWwm28 would be the ID.

● How do I know that you have received my video successfully on the official FICIE platform?

After filling in all the details of the film in the "Send video to competition" section and having
accepted the Terms and Conditions, click on the "Upload video" button.

If everything goes according to plan, you will receive a success message on the screen. If you
have any queries or problems, please contact the Organisation by sending an e-mail to
festivalelche@cajamediterraneo.es.

Afterwad the Organization will contact all the participants to announce the number of short
films finally admitted.

● I think I've got the wrong video. How can I remove it from the official FICIE plafatorm?

You can't do it directly. Contact the Organization through festivalelche@cajamediterraneo.es.

2
● I just uploaded the video but I don't see it on FICIE's official website.

The Organization does not upload the video immediately. Appropriate checks are made to see
if it complies with the rules. We give a maximum of 24 hours for it to appear on the web.

● My video is not reproduced on the official FICIE website.

The website is programmed in html5 to ensure its visualization from any mobile device and
pc/mac, so it is possible that you have a problem in the browser. There are several solutions:

a. Windows 7, Windows 8 (8.1) or Windows 10: In the case of using Internet Explorer we
recommend version 11 or, in the case of Windows 10, the browser that comes by default:
Microsoft Edge.

b. Windows XP/Windows Vista users. Since April 2014 Microsoft has abandoned this
operating system so that most browsers will not be able to be used effectively. However, you
can try the browsers described below.

In Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 you can use the following browsers:

Mozilla Firefox: https://www.mozilla.org/es-ES/firefox/new/

Opera Browser: http://www.opera.com/es
Google Chrome: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html
Vivaldi Navigator: https://vivaldi.com/?lang=en
Yandex Browser: https://browser.yandex.com/desktop/main/?ncrnd=4132

The system is already tested in these browsers and works normally.

To solve any doubt and/or incident, contact us at: festivalelche@cajamediterraneo.es.

● But I'm a Mac (or Linux) user

In the most popular distributions such as Ubuntu (https://www.ubuntu.com) and Linux Mint
(https://www.linuxmint.com) you can use the browsers described above without problems.

In Mac OSX we advise to update to minimum the version El Capitán 10.11

(https://support.apple.com/es-mx/HT206886) or desirable the last version of its operating
system MaOS Sierra 10.12 (http://www.apple.com/la/macos/sierra/) that will always have
updated the last version of Quicktime (https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1897?locale=en_ES).

Here also the official FICIE website is functional in the browsers described above and in this
operating system's own: Safari (https://support.apple.com/es-es/HT204416).

● Do I need a lot of bandwidth to be able to watch the shorts and/or compete by uploading
the videos?

With a bandwidth of 3 megs down / 500 k up, that would be enough.

When you want to watch and/or upload videos, we advise you to dedicate the bandwidth
exclusively to avoid slowing down.

● There are many fields to fill in

The Selection and Qualification Jury is demanding. The more data you have, the better you will
be able to give your verdict.

● How does the fact that there is a selection by subject help the public?

Visitors to the website can order the shorts according to "thematic packages" and thus have a
better user experience.

● How many short films can I send?

There is no limit to the number of short films that can be entered.

● Who rates my short?

The Selection Jury will evaluate all short films that have been submitted until 3/05/2019 at
12:00 p.m. (spanish time).

And, of course, everyone who enters the Festival website www.festivalcineelx.es and votes for
the Online Audience Award.

● But I don't want my short film to be seen by Internet users.

This edition of FICIE contemplates two modalities of participation:

a) Open Mode: the Author/Producer/Distributor decides that the short film will be open to
everyone who visits this website.

b) In Jury Restricted Mode: The Author/Producer/Distributor decides that his short film will
only be seen by members of the Jury.

4
● But I have presented my short films through the associated platforms, how does the
Organization know that I want to present myself in private mode?

The Organization has provided the associated platforms with the bases for this edition of FICIE
in which these two modalities of participation are contemplated. In these platforms, the
author will be notified to confirm whether they want to be presented openly or privately.

● And where can this choice be decided?

Once you are a registered user, in the section "Send Video", at the end of the screen appears
the option to choose the mode of participation.

● I forgot to mark one of these options, can I participate?

No. This choice is obligatory. The system will not let you advance if you do not choose one of
the two modalities.

● Why do I have to convert my short film to another video format?

In order to adapt it to its visualization via streaming in this web although it reproduces most of
the known video and audio formats.

● I'm a bit of a novice, how can I convert my short film?

There are many programs that make the conversion between different formats and many of
them are free.

The FICIE maintains a high level in its productions. We recommend the use of professional
software that exports directly to this format. On Mac OSX there is Final Cut. Here is a first
approximation to this program.

There are also other programs that allow you to convert between different formats with high
quality results.

In Mac and Windows we would have the Mpeg Streamclip and also with the XMedia Recode.

If you are a Linux user the possibilities also exist. FICIE recommends the free software
HandkBrake (https://handbrake.fr) which is compatible with all of the above operating
systems.

Filmin is the most important Spanish platform for cinema and television series with a high
degree of quality and an independent label. It is a guarantee of diffusion.

Being a Video on Demand (VOD) platform, it does not depend on any country or television but
provides quality content to its subscribers.

The profits obtained will be distributed as follows: 60% for short films; 40% for Filmin.

● Will my short film not lose quality when viewed in compressed format?

No. The format that we propose establishes the perfect relation between quality and online
visualization is the right one so that any user can see the short films with quality.

Consult the Bases and the "Inscription, Participation, Voting" section of the website.

● How do I know if I am in the Official Section?

From 10/06/2019 the FICIE Organization will publish the list of short films selected for the
competition in the Official Section and will proceed to contact them via e-mail, which they will
have provided us in their contact details.

In addition, it will be communicated via social networks and media.

● Will my video be screened in the Official Section?

If the Selection Jury considers so, it will have selected you as a finalist. We will contact you and
explain the steps to follow.

● What short films will be screened in the Section MOSTRA´T

It is a non-competitive section where works from students from educational and university
centres in the province of Alicante and the Valencian Community who, in the opinion of the
Selection Jury, have stood out for being a good example of the talent pool, paying attention to
those works carried out in the Valencian language and those from educational centres, real
seedbeds for future filmmakers.
