For members to perform maximum effectiveness, leaders should see to it that their
basic needs are met

Clarifies direction and goals so those who follow can support and contribute to the
mission

LEADER – MEMBER RELATIONSHIP
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with serenity of heart, just you
would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eyes are on, but like slaves of
Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve whole heartedly, as if you are serving the Lord

LEADER – MEMBER RELATIONSHIP

who is both their master and yours in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him

2 Types of Learship

1. Transformational Leadership – According to Bass (1990), “it is a form of leadership


that occurs when leaders broaden and elevate the interest of their employees, when
they generate awareness and acceptance of the purposes and mission of the group
and the employees can look beyond self-interest.” (p. 41)
2. Transactional Leadership – It is based on power that makes use of rewards and
coercion to deliver benefits to member, or to force or instill fears.
