THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Albert Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory (1977), agrees with the behaviorist

learning theories of classical conditioning and operant conditioning. However, he adds

two important ideas; number one mediating processes occur between stimuli and

responses, and last behavior is learned from the environment through the process of

observational learning.

As the students received the government allotted subsidy for their education, most

of them usually urged to give more importance in their academic performances because

of debt of gratitude for the government. It also urges their capacity because of the reaction

of their environment to the voucher program which is, to strive more to their studies to

make the voucher program of the government worth it.

Voucher serves as extra motivation to the students to reach their goals. Voucher

can also help the family of the students to lessen their daily expenses. On that way, a

student is motivated to study hard and improve his/her academic performances.

This framework illustrates that the implementation of K-12 curriculum in the

Philippines is the reason on why the government provide a subsidy or voucher for those
students who wishes to continue their studies up onto senior high. The researchers also

claim that the voucher program of the government has something to do with their

academic performances whether they are beneficiaries or not.

In the illustration the double-bladed arrow between the k-12 curriculum and the

encircled government subsidy (voucher) shows the relationship of the two in dividing the

students in terms of the voucher program- whether they are beneficiaries or not. Thus,

this correlational relationship of k-12 curriculum in having a government subsidy to the

student has bought them in between the differences of the two; the students with voucher

and the students without voucher. The researcher made use of straight line to show the

difference of the two independent variables. We used a single bladed arrow to easily

distinguish the effect of those two in the dependent variable which are the Academic

Performance of the students.
