General
Advanced industrial manufacturing and process
automation and measurement systems often require the
input of data from an Operator. With simple systems of
limited complexity this is normally the input of a number
or code. Multiswitch, the family of thumbwheel switches
from Crameda Intersys, are the ideal device for this
purpose. The design principle is that of a step switch but
deviates from conventional switches in that the switch
shaft is not perpendicular but parallel to the front panel.
Multiswitch thumbwheel switches are used in machine
tool control systems, measurement and test units,
control and regulation systems, computer systems,
sound and vision control systems, telecommunications,
medical measurement systems, etc. The essential
features of the thumb-wheel switch are it's high
reliability, precision and contact en-durance. Almost
thirty years of experience with many diverse applications
has resulted in and a comprehensive range of products
with an extremely high level of component quality.
Connectors
Connectors are available for all types of
MULTISWITCH.
Options and Accessories
Thumbwheels - alternative colours
The standard thumbwheel is black with white
characters. Green, red or blue thumbwheels with white
characters and yellow thumbwheels with black
characters are available on request.
Limit Stops
All Multiswitches excluding series D can be supplied
with any desired range of rotation determined by limit
stops. Stop pins (series H, L, M, N, S, U, V and W) can
be inserted from outside at any position. The range can
be readjusted at any time.
Stop discs (series B, G, H and Q) are installed during
assembly. They cannot be altered.
Special Markings
Instead of standard numerals, letters or other symbols
can be specified. A large variety of stamp dies are
available.

Marking on Switch Housing
This type of marking, e.g. words, special characters or
symbols, should be specified in detail (drawing).
Ganged Switches
Blind slave modules have the same technical data,
contact arrangements, and dimensions as standard
switches, but have no thumbwheels and are closed at
the front. They can be coupled to a Multiswitch of
identical size on the left or right hand side. Each blind
slave module is equipped with an additional coupling
element. Please note: Blind slave modules are not
available in series D, Q, S, U and W.
Dummy Switch Modules
Appearance is identical to the standard switch module.
However, the module has no contacts or printed circuits.
It can be useful in satisfying aesthetic layout
requirements.
Dummy switch modules for series D and Q are not
available.
Dummy Spacing Modules
Has the same dimensions as the corresponding
Multiswitch. It can be mounted at any position within the
switch block. The dummy spacing module makes it
possible to provide a Multiswitch assembly with
subdivisions or symmetrical appearance.
Division Modules
A switch assembly can also contain several groups
separated by ribbed division modules. The dimensions
of a division module correspond to those of a switch
module.

Mounting instructions
The individual switch modules (1) are arranged into switch assemblies. These are completed by two end brackets
(6) and held together with two or four threaded rods (7, 8). The mounting procedure is completed when the
assembly is inserted into the rectangular cut-out of the front panel.
Switch types for front mounting are secured by retaining springs. Switch types for rear mounting are inserted into
the front panel cut-out from behind and secured by four screws.
Series D, U and V switches are an exception. In this case modules are assembled by simply pressing them
together. No threaded rods or nuts are required.
