Synthesis Research Project Step 1

Requirements
___Big Idea: What is the Big Idea that you are researching? For Example, Racism in America

___ Essential Question: What is the question that will focus your research and provide a pro
and con argument? For example, Does the legacy of slavery still impact American culture?

___ Supporting Questions: What supporting questions do you have that will support
researching your essential question and finding source texts for the pro and con arguments?
For example, are there parallels between the slave system and the current prison system in
America?

___ Brief explanation of why you chose the subject and what your group is hoping to learn
from doing the research. (See google doc for example)

___ Pro Argument: Minimum of three text sources that are annotated on Google Docs and
that reflect the pro argument of your essential question.
___ Con Argument: Minimum of three text sources that are annotated on Google Docs and
that reflect the con argument of your essential question.
___ Works Cited Page: MLA formatted works cited page

Groups should all have the same Big Idea, Essential Question, and Supporting Questions. The brief explanation can be
done as a group or can be individualized.

All of your partners should have the same source texts in their google doc in the same order.
