TASK 4

Teachers can implement effective teaching methods based on their experience as second
language learner because they experienced as a learner. Day by day, the world is transforming
and moving forward to the sophisticated technology and modern gadgets are ruling youth’s life.
As a wise teacher, we can use the technologies as a tool to teach the Z-gen students.
Technologies are in our favor side since major language used in most applications and software
is English. So it will be a piece of cake for teachers to utilize that as an advantage and carry on
effective teaching method. Now even the government is planning to allow smart gadgets to
school as a feat of reducing bag weights. Teachers can use the applications which is available
online for free such as WORDWEB, ENGLISH DICTIONARIES AND PUZZLE SEARCH to
teach English in different way. As a learner, it was boring for me to learn using classic method
such as using text book, whiteboards and storybooks. I found that technology has a deep
impact on humans now. Even few months baby are able to use smartphones and this is an
inevitable fact. We can use smart gadgets to teach English to students. Some more smart
gadgets will help them to learn proper English since it has auto spelling correcting system.
Students will be able to widen their mind instead of learning text book English. Textbook English
is making learners boring. Based on my experience, I have seen many people who are poor in
English but crazy on English songs. Actually I appreciate that kind of peoples because they are
taking some kind of feats to upgrade them. English songs can prepare them to converse in
English and teachers can use this method too.

I was in secondary school for five years as normal. I learnt English for five years. But I
found English as an interesting subject when I had a new sporting English teacher at the final
year. She is the reason why I started to love English and why I put effort to learn English. She
appreciates everyone in our class. She used to praise us whenever we use broken English
between friends. I know my English at the beginning is quite worse but she didn’t mock me in
front of my friends. She called me personally and said “ Hey, well done. You have knowledge
and better ideas than me. Don’t worry English is just a language and not knowledge. I think you
have to brush your English now. Just follow my steps. You will improve”. All of it is just a normal
phrases but it affected me. What I’m trying to say is teachers should throw our ego when mixing
with students. Teacher should be students. We must encourage them to use English even
between friends. No matter it’s broken English, just give some compliments, it will lift their
morale to the sky. Don’t ever tease or laugh at learner’s English although it is worse. Give
them some space to improve. Motivate them. Your simple words are able to dictate them for a
better future. Use friendly methods in teaching English. This is vital method to be used by all
teachers, not only to teach English but for all subjects. Be students and teach them.

Writing an essay in a paper is tiresome. Typing an essay in laptops is interesting for me. I
have concrete reasons. I know that we have to use paper when in major examinations but we
still can use computers during normal practices. Computers can be a close friend who can edify
English. For instance, in Microsoft word there are systems like grammar checking, spelling
checking and thesaurus. These can teach those English and correct them at the same time. In
other word, it can be secondary teacher. So, let learners master the useful software like
Microsoft Word by guiding them use the proper way and giving assignments in computers.
Since Government is promoting our nation to modern nation, it won’t be an issue for teachers to
raise learners in modern way.

We can instill English as a second language by frequently give tasks like presentations
and sketches. It will create some space to students to learn, use and speak English in correct
way. I am sure none of us are willing to present in broken English because we scared of getting
teased. So same goes to students. They will try to use proper English with the aid technologies.
They can search in internet, use application or get help from tutors. No matter what way it is,
they are moving forward to converse in proper English. If I am a learner, I prefer to do sketches
rather than paper based assignments. Sketches can improve your English and also create a
good bond with friends during discussion period.

Where is a will, there is a way. There are a lot effective measures which we can use. I
learned a lot of ways to educate students when I was a student itself. Important thing is don’t let
learners feel English as unexciting and tiring.
