Objective 1. Attain an above average (4 out of 5) rating through student evaluations


Evidence
• Statistics and examples from student evaluation.
Expected Outcome
• Continue to use feedback from students to update courses and adapt to students’
needs

Objective 2. Complete the writing intensive CETL course


Evidence
• Certificate of completion
Expected Outcome
• Gain direct feedback from CETL and faculty on how to improve the writing
intensive course HP 403W and improve writing assignments in all courses

Objective 3. Renovate HP 487 Applied Exercise Science to increase content for students
completing their internship and utilize D2L technologies to improve the course
Evidence
• Syllabus and assignments from the course
Expected Outcome
• Students will have a forum to discuss internship issues with their peers in real time.
Course content will increase internship reflection, validity of completed hours
reports, and discussion points for future job interviews

Criterion II: Scholarly or creative achievement or research.

Objective 1. Submit one manuscript as lead author

• Completed manuscript
• Electronic notice of submission from the journal

Expected Outcome
• Further the body of knowledge in exercise science
• Engage in the research profession to bring experience to student research

Objective 2. Complete data collection and analysis for the IRB approved Jump Rope Interval and
Heart Rate Study

• SPSS output demonstrating data analysis
Expected Outcome
• To move through the research process on this study and set up the data for
manuscript preparation

Objective 3. Submit abstract for presentation at the National ACSM conference


Evidence
• Electronic verification of abstract submission
Expected Outcome
• Have abstract accepted for poster or oral presentation at ACSM
• Continue to present and disseminate research findings
• Increase student involvement in research presentations

Objective 4. Complete IRB for study titled Certifications Among Fitness and Exercise
Professionals in Minnesota
Evidence
• Electronic letter of IRB application approval
Expected Outcome
• Create a research project which engages student involvement in methodology
development, data collection, and data analysis
• Increase student involvement in the MSU Undergraduate Research Symposium

Criterion IV: Contribution to student growth and development.

Objective 1. Mentor Emily Novak and Michael Kantor through their manuscript capstones

Expected Outcome
• Students will complete a manuscript for submission for publication
• Students will successfully defend their capstones
• Students will gain knowledge in the research process

Objective 2. Mentor Sydney Dirks, Courtney Ferry, and Alex Hartman through their internship
capstones

Expected Outcome
• Students will successfully defend their capstones
• Students complete their internship experience and practice speaking on their
experiences for future job interviews

Objective 3. Mentor undergraduate research assistants to present at the MSU Undergraduate


Research Symposium

• Increase student involvement in research at the undergraduate level

Objective 4. Organize information and contracts undergraduate internships

• Internship information posted on the exercise science website for students to
access
• Contracts with our internship sites and the university

• A more organized and universal internship experience for our students
• Create a system to keep track of internship information
• Update legal contracts for internship sites
• Engage in the community to help students not familiar with the community find
internships

Criterion V: Service to the University and community.

Objective 1. Serve MSU Mankato by serving on the AH&N Diversity Committee as co-chair
Evidence
• Regular attendance at committee meetings
• Evidence of work completed based on the goals of the committee
Expected Outcome
• Continued work toward issues on diversity and inclusion in the College of Allied
Health and Nursing.
• Creating ways for faculty within the college to engage in diversity based events in
the community

Objective 2. Serve MSU Mankato by serving on the Undergraduate Research Council Committee
Evidence
• Regular attendance at committee meetings
• Evidence of work toward the goals of the council and the Undergraduate Research
Symposium
Expected Outcome
• To present an organized and successful URS and URC grant program
• Contribute to undergraduate student access to research and conferences

Objective 3. Serve the Human Performance Department by serving on the curriculum committee
Evidence
• Regular attendance at committee meetings
• Contribution to editing and approving curriculum proposals
Expected Outcome
• Contribute to the growth and refinement of course proposals so they are
successfully approved at the college curriculum meetings

Objective 4. Serve the Exercise Science program as the program coordinator

• Reviewed and updated materials within the undergraduate and graduate programs
Expected Outcome
• Provide our students with updated and correct academic maps and advising
materials
• Create guidelines and uniformity for undergraduate internship credits
• Refine the internship and manuscript capstone guidelines for the master’s program

Objective 5. Serve as the co-chair of the AA19030, AA19031 and AA19032 search committees
Evidence
• Successful appointment of faculty to these positions
Expected Outcome
• Make the program faculty whole with three colleagues experienced in teaching, research,
and service
