All tournaments (Open & Age Group) are eligible for PHILTA ranking points in
accordance with the following criteria and are conducted and administered under the
following regulations laid down by the Philippines Tennis Association (PHILTA).
CATEGORIES OF EVENTS:
A. OPEN TOURNAMENTS:
A.1 ELIGIBILITY – The event is open to all players thirteen (13) years and
above, without discrimination.
A.2 SIZE OF DRAW - The event must have a minimum of 32 entries for men
and 16
entries for women in the Singles Main Draw, and 16 entries for men and 8
entries for women in the Doubles Main Draw. Exceptions maybe allowed
on a
case-to-case basis.
A.3 TITLE RIGHTS - PHILTA owns the title rights to the National Open, Metro
Open and the PHILTA Open.
A.4 APPLICATION - Any request to host a tournament and the sanction of such
by
PHILTA must be receive in writing in the official PHILTA application form
not
less than thirty (30) days prior to the event. Late requests seeking PHILTA
sanction will be considered on a case-to-case basis and will be accepted
into
the calendar if, in PHILTA’s opinion, the tournament concerned can be
runned
viably and players can be advised in due time of the site and dates of
entry.
1. GROUP A – National Open, Metro Open, PHILTA Open, & any other
tournament with a total prize money of P400,000.00 and above; all
events (Mixed Doubles are Optional).

B. JUNIOR TOURNAMENTS:
B.1 ELIGIBILITY – The tournament is open to all participants who meet the
age
requirement (as of December 31 of the applicable year) of the event
being
entered into, i.e. player who will be ten (10) on or before December 31
of
the applicable year will qualify to play in the age group 10 & Under
Unisex.
In the 18 Yrs. & Under age group, only players aged twelve (12)
years
through eighteen (18) years of age will be eligible for competition.
In the 21 Yrs. & Under age group, only players aged thirteen (13)
years
through twenty-one (21) years of age will be eligible for competition.
B.2 AGE GROUP EVENTS - All PHILTA sanctioned age group tournaments
must include the following age group events in Singles: 21 Yrs. &
Under,
18 Yrs. & Under, 16 Yrs. & Under, 14 Yrs. & Under, 12 Yrs. & Under,
10 Yrs.
Unisex in Boys and Girls categories. At least one (1) Doubles Event
each
for Boys & Girls must be included. Exclusion of certain age events
maybe
allowed on a case-to-case basis.
B.3 TITLE RIGHTS – PHILTA owns the title rights to host the National Age
Group. PHILTA Age Group, National Students Tennis Championships,
Metro Age Group, Philippine International Junior Tennis
Championships,
The National 16 & Under and the National 14 & Under.
B.4 APPLICATION – Any request to host a junior tournament and the
sanction
of such by PHILTA must be received in writing n the Official PHILTA
Application Form not less than ninety (90) days prior to the event.
Late
requests seeking PHILTA’s sanction will be considered on a case-to-
case basis and will only be accepted into the calendar if, in PHILTA’s
opinion, the tournament concerned can be run viably and players can
be
advised in due time of the sites and dates for entries.
B.8 Players before they can be ranked are required to participate in one
(1)
class a tournament, the National Age Group. He/she must also
participate in any group 2 events like the Andrada Cup, PHILTA Age
Group, Metro Age Group, Manzano Cup and any other PHILTA
sanctioned tournaments that have been held consistently. Likewise,
players also have to compete in at least two (2) provincial
tournaments.
B.10 The ITF Ranking Ratio has been increased from the ratio 1:5 to
1:30 as
approved by the PHILTA National Executive Committee in its
meeting
held last January 28 1999.

The PHILTA Technical Committee shall oversee the applicability of the Code
of Conduct in all PHILTA organized &sanctioned tournaments. The Technical
Committee should be composed of the following:
A. TOURNAMENT REFEREE;
B. TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR;
C. PHILTA DESIGNATED OFFICIALS OR MEMBERS
OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
