equitable for low income families?” My research will cover why healthcare should be made
more affordable for the ones who cannot afford it, but will also approach why it should not be
made more affordable by the government. In digging deeply into the question, I will tear apart
and put together the reasons why healthcare should be accessible to the ones who cannot access
Bloom, Ester. “Here's How Much the Average American Spends on Health Care.” CNBC,
www.cnbc.com/2017/06/23/heres-how-much-the-average-american-spends-on-health-car
e.html.
The name of the article is Here's How Much the Average American Spends on Health
Care and the author of the article is Ester Bloom. The main point of the article is to demonstrate
how much Americans pay for health insurance. It shows how much one has to pay if they are
paying for individual health insurance or group health insurance, and within these two types it
demonstrates the average amount for the actual individual or the individuals family. The writer's
purpose of writing this is to give the statistics on how much one has to pay for health insurance
whether it be for just them or for them and their family as well, along with the monthly amount

of insurance that has to be paid. The targeted audience of this article is someone who wants to
purchase health insurance or wants more knowledge on how much it costs. The author is credible
because statistics are given to demonstrate how much depending on the year. It is also proven
credible because it is on a news source website, which means a decent amount of research had to
go into it to get the information. I will use this source to demonstrate how high health insurance
is for people, especially people that do not have nowhere near the amount of money needed to
afford the health insurance, which can prove health insurance should be more affordable.
Boychuk, Gerard W. National Health Insurance in the United States and Canada: Race,
Territory, and the Roots of Difference. Georgetown University Press, 2008. JSTOR,
www.jstor.org/stable/j.ctt2tt2r5.
The name of this source is called National Health Insurance in the United States and
Canada: Race, Territory, and the Roots of Difference and the author of the book is Gerard
Boychuk. The main point of the book is to talk about the United States and Canada and the
differences between the two systems of their health care and health insurance. It talks about how
Canada has a single payer system of health care and how the U.S has a dual system of health care
that is national. The writer's purpose is to compare the United States to Canada's health care and
to discuss the development of health care and insurance between the two countries. The author is
credible because it is a book, which means there are sources within the book that gave the
author's credibility because he needed facts to write the book. As well as the book was found on
JSTOR, and JSTOR is a very credible database. I will use this source in my article to bring up
the differences in Canada and the United States healthcare system, as well as, demonstrating how
Wills 3
the United States is always compared to Canada when it comes to health care because it makes
the U.S look like it is doing what it needs to do for the people.
Cunningham, Paige Winfield. “The Health 202: Health Insurance Still Costs Too Much. But
Congress Probably Won't Fix It.” The Washington Post, WP Company, 28 Nov. 2018,
www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/paloma/the-health-202/2018/11/28/the-health

The name of this source is The Health 202: Health Insurance Still Costs Too Much. But
Congress Probably Won't Fix It and the author of the the article is Paige Cunningham. The main
point of the article is discussing about the amount it is for health insurance for one to pay. It also
talks about how despite obamacare being put into action, which is supposed to help better the
cost of healthcare for Americans, the amount one has to pay is still high and not quite affordable.
The writer’s purpose of writing this article is to demonstrate how there are families that are
saying the health insurance rate is increasing more and more. Their purpose is to also show how
the out of pocket spending for one has also raised, which means one has to pay more before even
being able to have the health insurance company pay for the rest. The source is credible because
there are testimonies from real people, as well as real information about types of health insurance
plans that the companies have. I will use this in my paper to demonstrate the percentages of how
much health insurance has risen for many people over the past couple years, especially the out of
pocket spending families have to pay before health insurance can help.
Forbes, Steve. “How To Make American Health Care Better And Cheaper. What Republicans

-better-and-cheaper-what-republicans-must-still-do/#38c206dd1694
The title of this article is How To Make American Health Care Better And Cheaper. What
Republicans Must Still Do and the author of this article is Steve Forbes. The main point of this
article is to give ways or solutions on how we as people and as the United States can make health
care and insurance cheaper for ones that cannot afford it out of pocket by themselves. The article
talks about how we should have equal tax treatment, which deals with getting tax deductions for
purchasing health insurance. It also talks about how hospitals and insurance companies have set
out what they pay for and how much some services cost, so one will not go into a plan thinking
they can afford it when they really cannot afford it. The source is credible because it gives an
abundant amount of information and gives a couple of statistics about the price ranges. It is also
credible because it appears twice, once when it was published, and then again in June after it was
published in one of the issues. I can use this source to help give solutions and reasons of how we
can make health insurance more affordable other than just saying it should be made more
affordable.
Hsieh, Paul. “No, The Government Should Not Provide Health Insurance For All Americans.”

th-insurance-for-all-americans/#6c2031f57f6b.
The name of the article is No, The Government Should Not Provide Health Insurance For
All Americans a nd the author of this article is Paul Hsieh. The main point of the article is that the
government should protect the customers freedom to be able to purchase health insurance. It also
Wills 5
says how everyone's health insurance plans are different, so some need better or bigger plans
depending on the amount of people they have in their household or special needs they have.
Though it does give a solution of how health insurance can be made affordable like one of the
other articles I have done research on. The source is credible because it brings up information
about the government and how they “help” the economy. As well as, it brings up a organization
that they can go back to and be credible based off of what they said. The targeted audience is
anyone that wants to know more about health care and insurance and people that want to either
go against or refute health care being more affordable for the lower income families. I can use
this source in my paper because it refutes on the argument that low income families should have
more affordable income, and goes against having better health insurance for ones that cannot
Kaiser, Henry. “Key Facts about the Uninsured Population.” The Henry J. Kaiser Family
www.kff.org/uninsured/fact-sheet/key-facts-about-the-uninsured-population/.
The title of the article is Key Facts about the Uninsured Population a nd the author of the
article is Henry Kaiser. The main point of the article is to give information that some may not
know about people that are uninsured and do not have insurance. It talks about the Affordable
Care Act has helped to lower some of the costs of insurance for some people, but has not totally
made health insurance and health care more affordable for ones that cannot afford it. It gives
reasoning for why people remain to not have insurance, for reasons like; not having enough
money, and having high costs, jobs do not give one access to the coverage, and most people still
remain ineligible. The targeted audience is for people that need to be better educated or want

information to be able to support why health insurance should be made affordable. The source is
credible because it gives multiple statistics about health insurance and the number of people who
are uninsured. It also brings in facts about the ACA, which is basically Obama Care because it is
a reform to help lower the amount of the uninsured population. I will use this source to
demonstrate all the unknown information that people should know in my paper, as well as,
finding some quotes to support my claim in my paper on how people need lower cost insurance.
Kroft, Steve. “Interview with President Obama: The Full Transcript.” CBS News, CBS
www.cbsnews.com/news/interview-with-president-obama-the-full-transcript/.
The title of the article is called Interview with President Obama: The Full Transcript and
the author and the interviewer of this article is Steve Kroft. The main topic of the article and
interview is about trying to better the economy as he gets ready to be reelected as President
again. President Obama talks about how with putting in act a health care reform, the amount of
spending has been cut down tremendously. It also talks about how making a good health care
package can cut down unnecessary spending. The audience is for people who want to know more
about the economy and the health care and spending in the U.S. This source is credible because it
has information and details straight from the President of the United States. It demonstrates real
problems and solutions with the President, which shows the credibility of this source. This will
be used in my paper to talk about the reforms with the president, and the plans of trying to cut
spending to be able to give better health care plans to make it more affordable.
