PART B: SPEAKING

I. OBJECTIVES:

-By the end of the lesson Ss will be able to:

+Identify types of volunteer work

+Ask and answer questions about volunteer work

+Talk about volunteer work

II. METHODS:
Intergrated , mainly communicative

Picture, textbook

IV:ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
Ss may not know some words and confuse to speak, so T should well-prepared for
them.

I. Warm- up (7 minutes)
“Slap the board”
-T divides class into 2 groups : A and B
-5 Ss in per group make 2 rows
-T picks 1 S come to the board and say a
sentence in T’s paper
-Ss turn around and run to slap the picture

-After that, T gives Ss the name of per

picture
-T gets Ss to repeat
-T asks Ss
“Do they need help?”
-Ss : Yes
-T: Have you ever helped them?
Ss: Yes
-T: So, how do we call this work?
-Ss: Volunteer work
-T: Exactly, and this is also our topic today.
-T leads to the lesson

II.Pre- Speaking (10 minutes)

-T teaches Ss some vocabularies and
grammars:
Vocabularies:
+War invalids and martyrs
+Intersections

-T gives them a situation

Imagines you are joining a volunteer work ,
I have an interview for you.
-T asks Ss some questions

”What kind of volunteer work are you


-T attaches the conversation on the board
-T asks some questions
-T asks Ss to look at the answers
“Can you guess the tense here?
-Ss: Yes, Present continuous
-T” Please underline it”
-Ss come to the board underline
-T reminds Ss about why using that tense
-T gives Ss synonyms of some verbs
participating in?”
“ What exactly are you doing?”
“Do you enjoy the work?”
S: ”What kind of volunteer work are you
participating in?”
T: “ I’m helping old and sick people”
S: “ What exactly are you doing?”
T: “I’m taking care of them”
S: “Do you enjoy the work?”
T: “Of course, I love it”
S: “Why do you like it?”
T: “Oh because I like helping miserable
people”
-T: Have a look the board and tell me how
many questions are there?
-S: 4 questions
-T: Correct! So, to get information from the
others for an interview, let’s follow these
questions

-T shows Ss a table
-Ss follow the table and make their own
interviews ( conversations)
III. While- Speaking: (20
minutes)
-T gives class an activity
-T divides class into 2 teams : A and B
-T picks 4 Ss from 2 groups come to the
board and asks them to make question on
the board
-T asks Ss to make a circle
-T picks 1 S in group A stand in the center
of the circle and answer per question in 5
seconds over 5 seconds loose
(For each round take turns change S ) joining?
Grammar:
S: ”What kind of volunteer work are you
participating in?”
(= taking part in = joining)
T: “ I’m helping old and sick people”
S: “ What exactly are you doing?”
T: “I’m taking care of = (caring for)
them”
S: “Do you enjoy= (like,
appreciate, love, adore) the work?”
T: “Of course, I love it”
S: “Why do you like it?”
T: “Oh because I like (adore, love, be
keen on, be fond of) helping
miserable people”

-T takes them into a game
“RUN DICTATION”
-T sticks 4 paper on 4 corners of the room
-Ss play in 4 groups run to their paper
and one by one read each sentence for “No matter where you choose to
their team write volunteer your time and energy,
-The faster the winner
there always seems to be a moment
of pause, when you stop and think to
yourself how thankful you are for all
you have. When presented with
situations where people live with
less, from kids in an orphanage to
helping the homeless, it becomes
apparent just how lucky we really
are.
