Lesson competences:
Making up short sentences.
Counting objects and describing them.
Lesson objectives:
By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Recognize the numbers from 1 to 20;
2. Spell the numbers;
3. Form the plural of the nouns;
4. Make up sentences using the prompts.
5. Use numbers together with nouns in the plural.
Materials:
Handouts, worksheets, cards with numbers, coloured chalk, board, Power Point.
ACTIVITY 1 Warm-up
Aim: introducing students in the atmosphere of the English class.

Procedure: Interaction Time


Teacher greets the children. T–S
Pupils recite the greeting poem. S–T 1’
Teacher asks for the absents. T – WC
The student on duty tells the absents. WC

ACTIVITY 2 Check-up the homework


Aim: be aware of the importance of doing the homework.

Procedure: Interaction Time


Teacher asks the pupils to open their copybooks and show the T – WC
homework. The teacher checks the homework and marks it. 2’
The students show their copybooks. S–T

ACTIVITY 3 Check-up the previous lesson/Lead in


Aim: remember the information given last time.
Procedure: Interaction Time
We have just learnt the numbers from 1 – 12, and that is why T – WC
we are going to play the game BINGO. 5’
Find in the crossword as many numbers as you can. GW
Put the numbers in order and count from 2 to 12.

Look at the objects, ask and answer questions. S-S


Ex: - What is number 1? PW
- Number 1 is a desk.

ACTIVITY 4 Presentation
Aim: recognize the numbers from 13-20

Procedure: Interaction Time


The teacher introduces the numbers from 13 to 20.
The teacher writes on the board the numbers from 13 to 20
telling the pupils how we form the numbers and their T – WC
pronunciation. IW
The pupils copy in their copybooks the numbers.
After the pupils have finished copying the words the teacher
reads the numbers out loud. T – WC 18’
Pupils listen.
The teacher reads once more the numbers asking the pupils to WC –T
repeat. T–S
The pupils repeat. S–T
The teacher shows a number and asks some pupils to read
them.
The pupils read the number.

The teacher shows the numbers from 1 to 20 and asks some


pupils to count. T – WC
Then the teacher asks questions about the colours of the T–S
numbers. S–T
Ex: -What colour is number 15?
- It’s grey.
Now you can count. Let’s sing a song. The pupils listen, then
sing the song “ONE, TWO, BUCKLE THE SHOE”

The teacher asks the pupils to count the objects they see in the
pictures and compare the forms of the words.
The pupils discover the rule of forming the plural of the nouns.

ACTIVITY 5 Practice
Aim: to count the objects and form the plural of the nouns.

Procedure: Interaction Time


The pupils replace the pictures with words (one and many). T - WC
After the children have finished the task, the teacher asks them
to look at the pictures and listen to the poem.
The teacher asks them to repeat it. Some of them read the
poem in pairs.
At the end of the activity the teacher asks the pupils to make up PW
sentences and say how many objects they have. 10’
Ex: I have ten pencils.
The teacher hangs up groups of objects asking: “How many T - WC
...?”
The pupils answer the questions.

ACTIVITY 6 Production
Aim: to count the objects and spell the numbers
Procedure: Interaction Time
The teacher gives the pupils the worksheet asking them to find T – WC
the similar objects and count them. 7’
The pupils count the objects and spell the numbers on the IW
worksheets.
The teacher asks pupils to make up sentences using the cards T – WC
shown by him and the structure “I have got 20…….. .” S–T
The students make up sentences.
HOMEWORK:
The teacher grades some pupils and accounts for them. The she T – WC 2’
explains the homework.
