CCSS: RI 1.1 Students will ask and answer
questions about key details in a text.
Students are taught to answer questions by borrowing
words from the question itself.
Q: According to the text, how do beavers use their teeth?
A: The text says beavers use their teeth for biting off bark
and cutting down trees.
CCSS: Operations and Algebraic Thinking
1.OA. 3 Apply properties of operations as strategies
to add and subtract. Example: To add 2 + 6 + 4, the
second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so
2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12 (associative property).
