The use of more than one language in the educational systems of the Valencian

Territory is regulated in the Spanish Organic Law of General Management of the


Education System and the Law for the Use and Education of Valencian.

In predominant Valencian speaking areas, as stated in Article 35 of Law 4 / 1983, of Use


and Education of Valencian, all schools will apply one or more bilingual education
programs that will articulate a set of normalizing and organizational curricular
components, in order to achieve the specified objectives of the laws mentioned before.

There are three bilingual programs: the Teaching through Valencian Programme
(PEP which is the Spanish abbreviation), Linguistic Immersion Program (PIL) and the
Valencian Progressive Incorporation Programme (PIP):
