Border Affairs Minister receives ethnic excursion group

Border Affairs Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung received a visiting 150-person ethnic excursion
group at his ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on January 18, reported the state-run newspaper
The Global New Light of Myanmar.

At the invitation of the Chairman of the Work Committee for Implementation of


Development of Border Areas and National Races, and the Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye
Aung, a 150-member excursion group comprising 30 each from the Kokang Self-
Administered Zone, Kayah State, Kayin State, Rakhine State and Chin State visited Nay
Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, the Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung said that the Border Affairs Ministry
has made an invitation for the ethnic people who reside in the remote border area to
observe the development of the country so that they could use the experiences earning
from the excursion with a view to promoting their regional development.

He also said that the Ministry of Border Affairs has set up short term and long term
plans to promote the socio-economic lives of the people while striving to achieve peace
and stability in the border area.

65th Myanmar Medical Conference conference held in Nay Pyi Taw

THE 65th Myanmar Medical Conference began at the Myanmar Medical


Association (MMA) in Nay Pyi Taw on January 19, according to news reports.

During the conference, the Health and Sports Minister Dr Myint Htwe urged the
MMA to promote its activities by cooperating with related associations such as the
Myanmar Dental Association, Myanmar Nurse and Midwife Association,
Myanmar Pharmacist Association, and Myanmar Medical Technologist
Association,

The association had been operating for seventy years, from its founding in 1949,
and credited its fine work to the unity of its members. The association has 42
groups, which include general practitioners, as well as specialists, and has branches
in states and regions.
He also stressed the need to use modern information and communication
technologies for physicians in remote areas so that they can continue life-long
learning and studying.

Lower House and Upper House sessions held in Nay Pyi Taw

The second-day meeting of Lower House 11th regular session was convened on
January 22 in Nay Pyi Taw, according to parliamentary reports.

Complaints and Appeals Committee Lower House Speaker T Khun Myat


announced that Complaints and Appeals Committee was formed with 16 members,
including ခhairman Myint Oo of Pazundaung constituency and Secretary Saw
Thalay Saw of Shwegyin constituency after gaining the approval of the Lower
House session.

Aye Naing of Dagon Myothit (South) Constituency asked how the central
government would arrange for granting of land plots for the business personnel in
the Industrial Zone-1, the Industrial Zone-2 and the Industrial Zone-3 in Dagon
Myothit (South), Yangon Region.

Regarding this query, Deputy Construction Minister Kyaw Lin replied on behalf of
the Yangon Region government that the government would establish plots of land
for the small and medium-sized enterprises if the permission has been granted to
change the land of contract farming into Local Industrial Zone as Land Use.

Similarly, the second-day meeting of Upper House 11th regular session was also
convened on the same day.
