ABSTRACT

This maximum static friction coefficient measurement tool has been designed with a length of 37 cm,
width 35 cm, height 33 cm, and weight 1,623 g. This tool is designed to determine the angular value
produced from several materials rubbing together, so that from the resulting angle can be known the
maximum static friction coefficient value. The sensor used is an ultrasonic sensor HCSR4 which can
measure the size of the angle printed on the LCD or display up to 118 ° with the ability of 1 ° each angle
increase. The workings of this tool, namely the microcontroller is activated with a voltage of 5 V from the
voltage and make instructions from the software that has been made. The HCSR04 ultrasonic sensor can
know the distance that is done to measure angles with different capabilities so that the values obtained
from different angles value the greater the distance. The microcontroller converts data from the ADC by
calculating the angle then converting the angle to the maximum static friction coefficient formula by
displaying the results on the LCD. In testing this gauge produces a relative error, 0.80%, minimum
accuracy of 84% and precision of 0.91.
