Scholarship
Tuscola PowWows will be presenting 2 one-year non-renewable scholarships to one male and one
female who have participated in athletics during high school and are members of the graduating class at
TCHS.
Qualifications
Participated in a full season of at least one high school sport and/or was a member of the
cheer or dance team for every year in attendance at TCHS
Will be attending an institute of higher education offering a degree, license, or certification
full-time (at least 12 semester hours) in the fall of the current year
Had at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average at the end of the first semester of senior
year
Parent, grandparent, or guardian is currently a PowWows member as of December 31st of this
current school year
Has exemplified qualities of character expected of Warrior athletes throughout attendance at
TCHS
Scholarship Information
Each scholarship has a value of $500
Recipients will be announced at the TCHS Honors Program
Scholarship checks will be made out to student upon verification of registration at an institute
of higher education for upcoming fall semester
Selection Committee
The selection committee will consist of 3 PowWows Booster Club members or Tuscola
community members selected and agreed upon by sitting PowWows officers. To ensure
objectivity, no member of the selection committee may be an immediate family member of an
applicant. The names of the applicants will not be known to the selection committee.
Selection Process
Upon receipt of applications, qualifications will be verified by TCHS athletic director and
guidance counselor. Each applicant will be assigned an application number, which will be
indicated on both the Qualifications & Achievements page and the essay submitted for each
application. In adequate time prior to the selection meeting, the guidance counselor will
present the committee members with the essays and the Qualifications & Achievements
pages of all applicants for individual review. Each member will choose 2 essays from both the
male and female applicants, resulting in 2-6 male and 2-6 female finalists. At the selection
meeting, committee members may consider both the quality of the essay and the
achievements of each finalist to determine their selections. Male and female applicants will be
considered separately. The selections shall be solely at the discretion of the selection
committee and conveyed to the guidance counselor.
Application Deadline
Applications for this scholarship must be presented to the TCHS guidance counselor no later
than April 17th.

ESSAY

your goals.”
