Suggested Activities
1st Week

Lesson 1- Identify the main parts of the circulatory system and its function.

Activity 1
What are the main parts of the circulatory system?
What to Use: diagram of the circulatory system
What to do:
1. Examine the diagram of the circulatory system
2.Identify the main parts then label them.

Activity 2
What to use: Word puzzle
What to do: think of the best word that fits to each box to match with the sentences across and down
given.

Across: Down:
1. System that transports food nutrients and oxygen. 1. The process by which foods and gasses
2. It is called the “river of life” are transported throughout the body.
3. The pumping machine of the body 2. The pathway of blood.

Activity 3

What to use: a chart showing an outline of the human body

What to do:
1. Draw the arteries from the heart to the different parts of the body.
2. Draw the veins to show that blood flows as it return to the heart.
3. Color with red the passage of the blood to the different parts of the body, like the foot, hand ,
eyes, head , and stomach.
4. Color with dark green the passage back to the heart.

Lesson 2 – The Blood

Activity 1

Problem: What is blood made of?

What to use: sample blood of a pig or chicken

What to do:
Bring a sample of pig’s or chicken blood to the class. With the use of a microscope, observe its
components.

Observation:
1. Did you find the components of human blood as in the lesson?
2. What happened to the blood that you brought? Is it in liquid or solid form? Why do you think it is in
that form?
3. Why is the blood very important to living things?

Lesson 4 The Blood Vessels

Activity 1- Identify and explain the functions of the blood vessels

What to use:
What to do:
1. Look for some bluish lines at the different parts of the body. Start with the inner side of your arms
near the elbow or the inner wrist.
2. trace with your finger these bluish blood vessels. Compare them with the diagram of the circulatory
system.

Observation:

1. What are the different blood vessels?
