CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the summary of findings, conclusion and recommendations

based on the significant findings of this study.

Summary

The study focused on the Factors That Cause Teenagers Addiction on Facebook.

The respondents of this study were limited to 80 students from Grade 7 to Grade 10 of

High School. The respondents of the study were randomly selected which means that in

every section of Grade 7 of Guiguinto National Vocational High School to Grade 10

junior high school students at Guiguinto National Vocational High School has a chance of

being included in this study.

The general problem of the study is: “Factors That Cause Teenagers Addiction on

Facebook’ in Guiguinto National Vocational High School during the school year 2018-

2019?”

1. The study sought answers in the following questions: What is the demographic

profile of the student according to


1.1 Name
1.2 Age
1.3 Sex; and
1.4 Grade level
2. Do you still using Facebook?
3. What do you get using Facebook?
4. How much time do you spend on Facebook?
5. How did you know if you are addicted in Facebook?

Summary of Findings
The following are the salient of the study:

1. The result indicated that the 12-15 ages have highest number respondents with 60%

or 48 respondents.

2. The result indicated that the Female respondents have highest number respondents

with 63% or 50 respondents.

3. The result indicated that the Grade level have the same respondents with 25% or 20

respondents.

4. The result indicated that in Question #1: Do you use Facebook, the Grade 9 and

Grade 10 has the highest respondents answered “Yes” with 95% or 19 respondents

while Grade 7 has the lowest respondents answered “No” with 5% or 1 respondent.

5. The result indicated that in Question #2: Do you still use Facebook, the Grade 9 and

Grade 10 has the highest respondents answered “Yes” with 95% or 19 respondents

while Grade 7 has the lowest respondents answered “No” with 5% or 1 respondent.

6. The result indicated that in Question #3: What do you get using Facebook, the Grade

7 from Grade 10 answered “they get some information” with 50% or 40 respondents

while “they need it” has the percentage with 8% or 3 respondents.

7. The result indicated that in Question #4: How much time do you spend on Facebook?,

from Grade 7 to Grade 10 the highest answered is “they spend 1-5 hours in using

Facebook” with 81% or 65 respondents while the lowest percentage is “they spend

16-24 hours in using Facebook” with 1% or 1 respondent.

8. The result indicated that in Question #5: When I post an update on facebook, I am

very disappointed if no one comments on it. In Grade 7, Female is the highest

percentage answered “False” with 50% or 10 respondents. In Grade 8, Female is the


highest percentage answered “False” with 55% or 11 respondents. In Grade 9, Female

is the highest percentage answered “False” with 45% or 9 respondents, while in

Grade 10, Male is the highest percentage answered “False” with 45% or 9

respondents.

9. The result indicated that in Question #6: I usually prefer talking to people on

Facebook than in person. In Grade 7, Female is the highest percentage answered

“False” with 45% or 9 respondents. In Grade 8, Female is the highest percentage

answered “True” with 45% or 9 respondents. In Grade 9, Female is the highest

percentage answered “False” with 40% or 8 respondents, while in Grade 10, Male is

the highest percentage answered “False” with 40% or 8 respondents.

10. The result indicated that in Question #7: I have attempted to reduce the amount of

time I spend on Facebook but have not been successful. In Grade 7, Female is the

highest percentage answered “False” with 40% or 8 respondents. In Grade 8, Female

is the highest percentage answered “False” with 40% or 8 respondents. In Grade 9,

Male is the highest percentage answered “False” with 35% or 7 respondents, while in

Grade 10, Male and Female has the same percentage answered “False” with 35% or 7

respondents.

Conclusion

From the findings, the following conclusions were drawn within the delimitation

and scope of the study:

1. The result indicated that the 12-15 ages have highest number respondents with 60%

or 48 respondents.
2. The result indicated that the Female respondents have highest number respondents

with 63% or 50 respondents.

3. The result indicated that the Grade level have the same respondents with 25% or 20

respondents.

4. The result indicated that in Question #1: Do you use Facebook, the Grade 9 and

Grade 10 has the highest respondents answered “Yes” with 95% or 19 respondents

while Grade 7 has the lowest respondents answered “No” with 5% or 1 respondent.

7 from Grade 10 answered “they get some information” with 50% or 40 respondents

while “they need it” has the percentage with 8% or 3 respondents.

7. The result indicated that in Question #4: How much time do you spend on Facebook?,

from Grade 7 to Grade 10 the highest answered is “they spend 1-5 hours in using

Facebook” with 81% or 65 respondents while the lowest percentage is “they spend

respondents.

answered “True” with 45% or 9 respondents. In Grade 9, Female is the highest

percentage answered “False” with 40% or 8 respondents, while in Grade 10, Male is

the highest percentage answered “False” with 40% or 8 respondents.

10. The result indicated that in Question #7: I have attempted to reduce the amount of

time I spend on Facebook but have not been successful. In Grade 7, Female is the

highest percentage answered “False” with 40% or 8 respondents. In Grade 8, Female

is the highest percentage answered “False” with 40% or 8 respondents. In Grade 9,

Male is the highest percentage answered “False” with 35% or 7 respondents, while in

Grade 10, Male and Female has the same percentage answered “False” with 35% or 7

respondents.

Recommendations

Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations are given:

For the users:

1. Time management, commitment and focus as the attitude help student decrease the

negative effect of Facebook. I recommend some ways in which students can limit

their self in Facebook successfully or at least minimize the amount of time that they

spend on Facebook.
2. Limit accept Facebook request: Make it policy to ignore some of your Facebook

request.
3. Limit yourself in using apps and games and manage your notification, it will help you

to have time in yourself and do other things.


4. Parents should improve the level of control and care of their children. Show more

interest and concern and the academic work of their words by way of providing

materials for their studies. Give more attention to your children and spend your time

until they grow up.
