1. Importance Of Engagement For Company
Employee engagement is the extent to which employees feel passionate about their jobs, are
committed to the organization, and put discretionary effort into their work. Employee
engagement is important mainly because of 5 reasons, and they are; Engaged employees boost
productivity, Employee engagement increases customer satisfaction as People who are
passionate about their work are often the best people to interact with your customers and your
customers will take notice Engaged employees are involved and invested in their roles and are
therefore less likely to leave their job, Employee engagement enhances company culture,
Engagement is a symptom of success. This are the five main reasons why as to why employee
engagement is important.

2. About The Company


Maruti Suzuki India Limited formerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited is an automobile
manufacturer in India it is a 54.2% owned subsidiary of Japanese automobile and motorcycle
manufacturer Suzuki motors Corporation. As of January 2017, it had a market share of 51% of
the Indian Passenger car market Maruti Suzuki manufactures and sells popular cars such as
Ciaz, Alto, Wagon R, Swift, Celerio, Swift Dzire and omni. the company is headquartered at
New Delhi. in February 2012 the company sold its 10 million vehicles in India

Aryaman Sai Goa, Maruti Suzuki dealership started operations in the year 2010 at Camurlim,
Salcete, on the Margao - Ponda Highway. It is ideally located near the Borim bridge between
the two cities, Ponda and Margao. In a short span of time Aryaman Sai Goa has become the
preferred choice of Maruti Suzuki customers in Goa. Aryaman Sai Goa has set up a dedicated
sales network across Goa. Aryaman Sai Goa’s CEO is Mr. Avdhut Dalvi. The market share of
Maruti Suzuki in goa is shared between three companies; namely Chowgule Industries, Sai
Service Goa and Aryaman Sai.

3. Overview Of The Study


A survey was conducted in order to check the Employee Engagement level at Maruti Suzuki,
Aryaman Sai Loutlim Goa. And this was mainly conducted through a well-defined
questionnaire which was introduced by Gallup that is Gallup Q12. This questionnaire consists
of 12 questions that identifies strong feelings of employee engagement. The rating scale ranges
from 1-5 that is (Extremely Satisfied – Extremely Dissatisfied) and this questionnaire is
classified into four categories that is “Base Camp” which identifies Basic Needs; “camp 1”
which identifies management support; “Camp 2” which identifies Team work and lastly “Camp

3” which identifies Growth. A sample of 50 employees were chosen among which 33 were
male and 17 were female, between age group of 25-50 and who have completed almost one
year in the company. All this data was collected and analysed using descriptive statistics.

Interpretation
An analysis of employee engagement was conducted at Aryaman Sai Maruti Suzuki in order
to check the overall engagement level of the employees. As can be seen from the above pie
chart that 16% of the employees are showing their highest engagement level in the organization
and whereas 80% of the workforce are moderately engaged and only 4% of the workforce in
the organization is low on engagement levels. The reason behind such problem might be the
organization is not able to meet the desired acceptation from the employee side or the
engagement activities which the organization is conducting is not able to meet the desired

outcome. Another reason might be the rigid mentally of the employees which is inhibiting the
employee engagement level in the organization.

Interpretation:

The above bar graph represents the four dimensions that is basic needs (Base Camp),
management support (camp 1), team work (Camp 2) and growth (Camp 3) at Aryaman Sai
Maruti Suzuki. If we talk about the fulfilment of basic needs in the organization then 50% of
the employees are high on basic needs. Almost half number of Employees are satisfied with

the basic need which they have received from the organization. Whereas 46% of the workforce
are partially satisfied with the basic need factor and hardly 2% employees of the organization
are showing negative response towards the basic need factor. The reason behind it might be the
higher expectation of the employees towards the organization.

As we can see from the above bar graph 16% of the employees are able to get the maximum
support from the Management side in the organization. The reason behind receiving such
response might be because the management may have a soft corner towards its valuable
employees. The majority of the employees i.e., 66% are getting the medium or the satisfactory
management support the reason might be because of low interaction between the employer and
the employee. Talking about the third segment 18% are responding negative response towards
the supportive factor as they are getting insufficient amount of employer support.

Team work is the main tool which the company can use to promote the employee engagement
in the organization. The above graph highlights that 32% of the workforce in the organization
are highly satisfied with the team work factor at the workplace. More than half i.e., 62% of the
employees are moderately engaged in the team work and hardly around 06% of the workforce
is poorly engage in team activities at work. The reason behind receiving such response might
because of change in the job position and difference in the working conditions at the workplace.

Growth and development of the individual along with the organization play a major role in
employee engagement. By looking at the above graph we can see that 70% of the employees
in the organization are getting the opportunity to grow and develop themselves. Whereas 24%
are hardly getting such opportunities. And lastly very few that is 06% of the employees are
showing poor response towards the growth and development factor as they are getting very low
opportunities to grow

6.1 Question Wise Analysis Interpretation

1. Do you know what is expected of you at work?

This question addresses one’s ability to understand their place within organization’s team, for
example does the employee know his/her role or whether the employees are aware about their
responsibilities or not. From the survey conducted in the organization it can be concluded that
10% of the employees are highly engaged, 34% of the employees are engaged 40% of the
employees are moderately engaged 16% of the employees are disengaged and no employees
are highly disengaged. So average rating for this question is 3.14, from this we can say that the
employees are moderately engaged. And it can be concluded that the employees are very well
aware about what is expected from them at the workplace, they might be also aware about their
roles and responsibilities in the organization.

2. Do you have the materials and equipment you need to do your work right?
Without the proper tools at your disposal you cannot do your job to the highest degree possible.
This question is meant to address discrepancies between what you have and what you need
as getting people what they need to do their work is important in maximizing efficiency, in
demonstrating to the employees that they work is valued and in showing that a company is
supporting them in what they are asked to do. From the survey conducted in the organization
it can be seen that 28% of the employees are highly engaged, 54% of the employees are
engaged, 16% of the employees are moderately engaged, 2% of the employees are disengaged
and same as above no employees are highly disengaged. So average rating for this question is
3.94, from this we can say that the employees in this organization are highly engaged and the
reason behind this might be the employees are getting proper materials and necessary
equipment for completing their tasks and performing their duties.

3. At work, do you have the opportunity to do what you do best every day?
This question talks about whether the employees are or not regulated to a set of tasks they don't
effectively utilize their unique set of skills and it also covers whether or not the employees are
in the appropriate area and if the company understands how to maximize the efforts of their
employees by building on their strengths. From the study conducted in the organization it can
be seen that 2% of the employees are highly engaged, 24% of the employees are engaged, 48%
of the employees are moderately engaged and only 22% of the employees are disengaged and

4% of the employees are highly disengaged. So average rating for this question is 2.88 from
this we can say that the employees are moderately engaged. The reason behind this may be
because of the different supervisors in different departments as in some like customer care
departments the employees might be allowed to put his/her unique skills in order to deal with
customers but wherein in other departments where technical knowledge is must it is not
possible.

4. In the last seven days, have you received recognition or praise for doing good work?
This question focuses on your company's ability to pinpoint and highlights outstanding
individual contributions. And it also helps in identifying whether the efforts of the employees
are noticed by the managers or supervisors in the company. From the study conducted in the
organization it can be seen that 34% of the employees Are highly engaged, 42% of the
employees are engaged, 14% of the employees are moderately engaged and only 6% of the
employees are disengaged and 4% of the employees are highly disengaged. So average rating
for this question is 3.98, from this we can say that the employees in this organization are
engaged and from this it can be concluded that the employees might be getting recognition and
praise for their better performance and individual contributions and this is how employees also
feel that their efforts and work is identified and valued.

5. Does your supervisor or someone at work, seems to care about you as a person?
For each person, feeling “cared about” mean something different. Some organization see their
work force is nothing but labor. This question is to uncover how emotionally engage the leaders
in your organization already are. From the study conducted in the organization it can be seen
that 6% of the employees Are highly engaged, 28% of the employees are engaged, 28% of the
employees are moderately engaged, 32% of the employees are disengaged and 6% of the
employees are highly disengaged. So average rating for this question is 2.94, from this we can
say that the employees in this organization are moderately engaged. The reason behind this
may be because of the different supervisors in different departments, some supervisors may act
in very caring and friendly manner with the employees, if in case they are in problem then they
might the employees overcome those whereas some supervisors might behave in very strict
manner.

6. Is there someone at work who encourages your development?


This question talks about is there any encouraging presence within your team or company or
does everyone go about their own business on any given day. As without effective leadership

or an encouraging atmosphere engagement cannot drive because it is not conductive to such
conditions. From the survey conducted in the organization it can be concluded that 12% of the
employees Are highly engaged, 28% of the employees are engaged, 32% of the employees are
moderately engaged and only 28% of the employees are disengaged. So average rating for this
question is 3.08, from this we can say that the employees in this organization are moderately
engaged. The reason behind this might also be because of the different supervisors and
colleagues in different departments. Some supervisors and colleagues might be very much
supportive and encouraging who constantly keeps on motivating based on their work.

7. At work, do your opinions seem to count?


This question addresses about whether the thoughts and opinions of the employees are taken
into consideration or not. This question addresses about whether the thoughts and opinions of
the employees are taken into consideration or not. It also looks at weather everyone is headed
in the same direction adjust along for the ride when it comes to brand goals. From the
study conducted in the organization it can be seen that 08% of the employees are highly
engaged, 52% of the employees are engaged, 32% of the employees are moderately engaged
6% of the employees are disengaged. So average rating for this question is 3.5, from this we
can say that the employees in this organization are engaged and from this it can be concluded
that the thoughts, opinions, ideas from the employees are taken into consideration before taking
the decisions.

8. Does the mission/purpose of your company make you feel your job is important?
This question addresses about how well do you relate to the goals of your organization. if you
aren’t in full agreement with whether company wants to go and the role you play in helping
them get there, engagement is doomed to fail because there is nothing to strike for in the long
term. From the study conducted in the organization it can be determined that 08% of the
employees are highly engaged, 52% of the employees are engaged, 36% of the employees are
moderately engaged 2% of the employees are disengaged and only 2% of the employees are
highly disengaged. So average rating for this question is 3.46, from this we can say that the
employees in this organization are highly engaged. The reason behind this might be because
the culture, HR practices followed in the organization values their employees.

9. Are your associates (fellow employees) committed to doing quality work?


This question talks about are you making up for the lack of effort your fellow team members
employee or does your team work in Unison to ensure everyone can complete the task at the

highest level possible. From the study conducted in the organization it can be seen that 26% of
the employees are highly engaged, 46% of the employees are engaged, 24% of the employees
are moderately engaged 2% of the employees are disengaged and only 2% of the employees
are highly disengaged. So average rating for this question is 3.76, from this we can say that the
employees in this organization are highly engaged. It can be concluded that most employees
feel that their associates are committed to doing quality work.

10. Do you have a best friend at work?


Relationships are important and it is an encouraging sign that a team is working as one. if
everyone in the organization operates on a different wavelength, it will ultimately hinder the
team's ability to operate as a whole. From the study conducted in the organization it can be
seen that 8% of the employees are highly engaged, 40% of the employees are engaged, 28% of
the employees are moderately engaged 28% of the employees are disengaged and only 2% of
the employees are highly disengaged. So average rating for this question is 3.16, from this we
can say that the employees in this organization are moderately engaged. And the reason behind
this might be because in some departments some employees might have their own best friends
some might not have not have a best friend.

11. In the last six months, has someone at work talked to you about your progress?
This question addresses whether or not someone at workplace had talked about the progress of
the employees. As metrics and statistics are important, especially as they relate to job
performance. If you are doing something wrong, yet no one tells you it's wrong, you are
doomed to continue repeating the same mistake, but checking in with an encouraging personal
growth, team members can maintain more realistic workplace goals. From the study conducted
in the organization it can be seen that 34% of the employees are highly engaged, 52% of the
employees are engaged, 10% of the employees are moderately engaged, only 2% of the
employees are disengaged and few that is 2% of the employees are highly disengaged. So
average rating for this question is 3.96, from this we can say that the employees in this
organization are engaged. It can be concluded that in this organization the work of the
employees is appreciated and also encouraged which helps them to maintain more realistic
workplace goals.

12. In the last year, have you had opportunities at work to learn and grow?
This question talks about is there a program in place that encourages personal growth and
allows for opportunity to further your skills and abilities or not. This question is designed to

uncover your organization's current engagement levels, as they relate to continue training and
education. From the study conducted in the organization it can be seen that 20% of the
employees are highly engaged, 34% of the employees are engaged, 36% of the employees are
moderately engaged 6% of the employees are disengaged and only 4% of the employees are
highly disengaged. So average rating for this question is 3.5, from this we can say that the
employees in this organization are highly engaged. From this data it can be concluded that most
of the employees in the organization feel that they are good opportunity to learn and grow and
the reason behind this might the organization provides their employees various training and
development programs.

5: Conclusion:
To conclude the study conducted at Maruti Suzuki Aryaman Sai to find the level of employee
engagement it is found that most of the employees are showing the engagement sign which we
have seen from the graphical representation analysis. The company is facing lots of problems
and challenges from its introduction stage because of its direct competition given by
competitors of the same company. In spite of many challenges the company is able to engage
its employees up to greater extent as they find the kind of respect in the organization and their
opinion seems to count. Employees have their best friends and colleagues also the work culture
is also friendly and good to work as the idea generation and later consideration happens and
also they are been praised for their good work at workplace which is sign that there is an
existence of work life balance at Aryaman Sai.

7. Suggestions:
I) Organization should try to focus on growth and development activities and opportunities
which will help the organization to engage its employees at greater extent.
ii) The company should provide more opportunities to its employees to do what they do best
every day.
iii) The supervisor and the managers should disturb the employees at every interval period to
keep the employee on track and to judge its performance.
iv) supervisors or the upline should try to act in the friendly manner
v) a lot of salary and recognition related chaos happens in the organization so a perfect PMS
should be introduced so that their performance can be tracked and the transparency can be
maintained
vi) The organization is operating at the grass root level and not able to provide the facilities
and learning opportunities for its employees so they should try to manage it.
