Immaculate Conception Novena
Once again we will soon be having our
Immaculate Conception Novena.
For nine consecutive Mondays we will
gather in church to pray the Miraculous
Medal Novena. This year spiritual
reflections will be given on the various titles
of Our Lady found in the Litany of Loreto.
Our Novena began on Monday, October
11th at 7:30 P.M. and will continue each
Monday at 7:30 until November 7th.
STEWARDSHIP: Stewardship of Time and Talent: A
lady once remarked that she played bridge for an
average of fifteen hours a week. Yet, she is too busy to
teach a Bible class one hour a week. That’s daydreaming
while driving a car. There are young people who spend
five to ten hours in movie theaters each week, but are
too busy to spend an hour to collect funds for the
missions. That’s daydreaming while driving a car.
There are men who tour a golf course for eight hours a
week, but who are too busy to be a pal to their children
or visit the sick and the elderly. That’s daydreaming while

October, Month of the Holy Rosary
In recognition of October as the month of the Holy Rosary,
members of the Holy Rosary and Altar Society will be
leading parishioners who attend the Saturday Evening
Mass in a recitation of the Rosary. The Recitation will
begin promptly at 4:30 PM in the church and will end in
time for the beginning of the 5 PM Mass. Rosaries will be
distributed to those who do not have any. The five
Glorious Mysteries will be cited, and the Rosary will
be said for the intentions of our Holy Father,
Pope Benedict. This will be done only at
the 5 PM Saturday Night Masses in October!

Dear Parish Family,
Today is the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Today I
give a big welcome to the Assumption College for Sisters
to our 10 AM Mass. The sisters will share their musical
talent with us as a way to not only bring glory to God, but
also to let our parish become acquainted with Assumption
College.
Assumption College for Sisters exists to educate
women called to a life dedicated to God and of service in
the Church. It is sponsored by the Sisters of Christian
Charity and is located in beautiful and historic Mendham.
It provides a value-centered 2-year program in Theology
and the liberal arts. The college welcomes women
religious of any congregation, or any woman who is
seriously discerning religious life and who is
recommended by a spiritual director.
The College and the sisters are not strangers to our
parish as they offered a presentation to our Rosary
Society last December. All present were moved by the
warmth, love, and joy of the sisters. For more

This past Friday we had our Annual Tricky Tray. As I
am writing this article the number of items for this event is
ahead of last year. Tickets have been selling briskly. I
thank Joyce Capitanello and Monica Michel, Celeste
Pandolfi, Martha Limido, Cookie Aversa and all who have
helped to make this year’s Tricky Tray not only a reality,
but also a success.
Next weekend at the 12 noon Mass we will celebrate
our Annual Memorial Mass, during which we will
remember and pray for the members of our parish who
died and were buried from our church last year. I invite
you to be part of this moving liturgical celebration.

60TH ANNIVERSARY NEWS
3 PM Mass, November 7th, 2010
Bishop John Flesey, D.D., will be the main celebrant
and homilist, along with clergy who have served here
in the past. All parishioners are invited.
Following the Mass we will proceed to the Hasbrouck
Heights Hilton for fun, fellowship, good food, and great
dancing with a live band. The reception begins with a
cocktail hour from 5 to 6, and then dinner and dancing
from 6 to 9. The cost of tickets for the reception is $85,
and there are about 30 left. These will be available on a
first come, first served basis. You may obtain a ticket by
calling (201) 845-9566.
After the weekend Masses on November 13th and 14th,
there will be a 60th Anniversary exhibit in the auditorium.
Admission is free to all parishioners. There will be an
opportunity to purchase the 60th Anniversary journal and
a souvenir magnet, along with the chance to win some
great prizes.
Although we have some prizes already, we are still
looking for additional items. If you would like to donate
something (such as a weekend getaway, spa treatment,
tickets to a sporting event, theater, or concert, restaurant
certificates, etc.) please contact Susan at the parish

Non-gluten hosts
A few members of the parish have inquired in regard
to having non-gluten hosts made available to them.
Happily we now have them. For those who wish to
receive Holy Communion with this Altar bread, we
ask the following:
1. that you contact the rectory and advise us which
Mass you will be attending.
2. that you see the priest that is having the Mass at
least 10 minutes before hand.
3. that you sit near the front of the church so you
can be the first person to receive from the
celebrant.
4. if you have called the rectory to let us know that
you have this special need but are unable to
attend the Mass you have stated, let us know that
you will not be present.
Catechism Class
Over the summer several members of the parish
had been gathering to walk through the Catechism
of the Catholic Church. It has continued to this day.
We meet on Wednesday evening in the school
from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. If interested, come join us!

Simon was surnamed the Zealot for his

emergency. Our catechists rarely call out, but they are

ALL SAINTS DAY CONTEST – All students from grades
