According to the CM of Andhra Pradesh, the state will the the first to introduce such scheme in
the country. The best global practices will be used for the insurance scheme. According to the
CM, WHO, Bill Gates Foundation and some other noted health organizations will be involved in
the scheme.
The necessary allocations for the scheme would be announced in the next budget. The scheme
enrollments and premium collections have to be done within the 2 months after the launch of the
scheme. The process would cost about Rs. 160.56 Crore to the state.
More details such as covered diseases, empaneled hospitals and other details about the
scheme would be available ony after the launch of family health insurance scheme.
The Chief Minister also launching Swasta Vidya Vahini at 222 places to provide nutritious food
to students in the state on December 24.
The main objective of Arogya Raksha scheme is to cover the APL families in the state and
provide them the health insurance. Through the scheme, the state government aims to ensure
“Health for All” by providing them insurance coverage at a negligible premium amount.
A total of 1044 diseases would be covered under the Arogya Raksha scheme. There are a total
of 432 hospitals including 80 government general hospitals which have been empaneled for the
implementation of the scheme. The Arogya Raksha scheme would provide health insurance
coverage to about 35 Lakh APL families in the state.
