To whom it may concern,

My name is Olivia Secord, I am currently an SRT at Conestoga College in my fist

semester. I have always been interested in medicine and healthcare as I find it very rewarding
helping people and fascinated with wellness and a wholesome health outlook. The RT career
immediately caught my eye when I was looking into future careers after I was finishing my
undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph. It caught my eye due to the inter-professional
position that a respiratory therapist can have in the hospital setting. I also think that the
autonomy that a respiratory therapist can achieve is something that is important to me.

I am a hardworking, responsible and a very reliable person. I like to complete tasks to the
best of my abilities and I am a very determined to succeed in every challenge I am given as I am
a quick learner. I love being able to work in a team environment as I have experience
participating on many school and competitive teams. Teamwork is very important to me as well
as being able to interact with all different types of people. My previous office environment I
have worked at, is a veterinary clinic called Georgian Bay Veterinary Hospital for the past 5
years. I have worked closely with patients, families and the doctors as an assistant as well as a
receptionist. I understand the importance of the work that the doctors and nurses rely on behind
the scene and know the seriousness of completing the tasks efficiently and properly. Of course, a
veterinary clinic has many differences than a hospital but also some similarities which I believe
will be a great asset in the respiratory therapy world. My other experiences include being on
mission trips to both Kenya and Guatemala, were I was lucky enough to have had a chance to
interact with many different people from many cultures and backgrounds.

In this journey it is my goal to continue to learn so I can always put my best foot forward.
My goal as a SRT is to continue to strive for putting my best self forward and to do so continue
to explore the profession and the possibilities that this career will have for me. I will always have
a curious mentality and step into every situation with a wholesome outlook. One day I would like
to work in research and/or work with pediatrics and neonatal patients as I want to be able to
support and bring my energy to children and their families.

Thank you so much for giving me your time and I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours truly,

Olivia Secord
