When a person hears the fact that the percentage of overweight children in
Western societies has risen by around 20 percent, he or she is THEY ARE
definitely taken aback. This is an alarming statistic and one that needs to be
addressed with urgency. If we turn a blind eye to this matter or just bury our
heads in the sand like an ostrich, this pandemic will swoop the world. In this
essay, I will discuss the causes, effects, and possible solutions to help
alleviate our youth and our future generations from this issue.

Perhaps the most prominent reason for the increase in childhood obesity is
the fact that parents do not give the required attention to their children.
Whether it be Be it emotional attention or physical attention, parents seem to
be quite busy with their work lives. Because of this, children are left without
adult supervision. This causes them to behave erratically. One of these
behaviours is the consumption of unhealthy food in an untimely manner. One
can even say that the children are trying to eat their feelings away.

GIVE SOLUTION IN A SEPARATE PARAGRAPH.

The solution for this is quite simple. Parents should be made aware of their
responsibilities towards their children. They should also be made aware of
the differences between healthy and unhealthy eating habits. When parents
start to give more time to there THEIR children, the void that their absence
left would be filled.

One of, if not the most, prominent reasons for childhood obesity is the lack of
physical exercise that children get. Rather than encouraging their children to
go out and play, parents get all sorts of different games and computers for
their children. This breeds a lethargic behaviour in the children, which is
quite dangerous. To overcome this issue, both children and parents should be
motivated to take part in physical activities. At a larger level, communities
and even local governments can take initiatives to conduct sporting events for
children. This would inculcate a sense of competitiveness and sportsmanship
in the children as well as help them gain physical exercise.

A reason that is often overlooked as being normal is the glorification of fast

food. The advertisements used by giant fast food chains tend to show their
food as healthy and scrumptious, when the reality is anything but that.
Overindulgence in fast food causes children to gain weight in an exponential
manner. To counter this, legislation should be made to stop the promotion of
fast food as healthy. Other than that, awareness campaigns and
advertisements should be run which inform the general public about the
dangers of fast food. Once parents and children are made aware of the side
effects of fast food, they would tend to switch to healthier food and this, in
effect, would result in children having a normal weight.

NO SIGNINALLING PHRASE FOR CONCLUSION: While these are only

some of the plethora of reasons that cause childhood obesity, working on
these issues and resolving them would certainly yield great results. Just as
Rome wasn't built in a day, these approaches will take time in getting results.
As a famous writer once said, "the best time to start something was
yesterday; the second best time is now".

-------------------

Dear sir,

I offer you my most cordial greetings and I hope that you receive this letter of
mine in the very best of your health. I am generally a very calm person and
don't write such letters, but the gravity of the situation has coerced me into
doing so. I'm writing to register a formal complaint regarding the issue I have
with my roommate and also to request a possible solution.

I'm sure you know that I've been living in the dormitory for the past two
semesters and I've never had a problem with anyone. But the nonchalant
attitude of the roommate that I'm living with this semester has made things
quite difficult. The first issue is that he THE loud music IS blaring from his
speakers practically the entire day. The second issues ISSUE is that he
constantly has people over in the room. At times, those people even spend
nights in our room, which makes things quite difficult. The third issue is that
he never cleans the room. He always leaves behind a mess and I'm the one
who is left to clean it all up.

Despite the fact that I've talked to him several times about these issues, he
seems to be unfazed. All of these issues are making it quite difficult to spend
time in the room and focus on my studies. I, therefore, request that you
provide me with a single person room where I can live by myself and focus
properly on my studies. I'm sure that you would seriously consider my
concerns and address them appropriately. Anticipating your positive reply.

Regards,
Zarak.
